I don't really know what gave Tyson so much trouble, but Ruddock was landing fuckin bombs all night. I guess the susceptibility to the uppercut for Tyson i dunno

Tyson was able to outlast him though

good highlights

Yes, after putting up such a sterling effort against Mike(twice) I was sure Ruddock would wipe the floor with Lewis:confused:

mike fought a great fight, i think some people conjectured that that fight may have taken a lot out of him. Hard to say, he was still so young and then he was kayoed for years by that desiree chick which pretty much ruined him.

that was the kind of matchups that made me wonder if tyson was the puncher that everyone made him out to be. but then, ruddock lost something in those fights too probably.

oh, and for those who rightly say mike only faced guys that were scared of him, ruddock was one guy who definitely wasn't.

That was a good fight that I'd forgotten about. I think Tyson showed a lot of grit there he was getting caught with some heavy shots. Ruddock was tough as old boots himself and didn't implode mentally as some Tyson opponents seemed to despite the two knockdowns. And I'd agree that Ruddock was not intimidated by Tyson one bit.

Tyson was lucky not to get DQed in that fight, Lane did a terrible job with the low blows

He was pretty lenient toward Tyson. The number of times he saw the low blow and just said don't do that again.

This is how you deal with refs not giving points off for low blows, or just to tell your opponent to fuck off with that shit:

It showed Mike can win a fight, despite that what that hateful cunt atlas said about him

Even in his losses v Douglas. Holyfield and Lewis he fought hard, he just was not good enough

Mike Was fantastic despite that nerd atlas

Wow thanks TS. Amazing fight.

This is how good HW boxing can be if you don't allow the tall guy to hold and grab compulsively. It just wasn't Razor's style I guess so good on him. I LOVE seeing guys box on the inside. Fuck it is brutal and beautiful.

I remember seeing both the Tyson/Ruddock fights on closed circuit. The undercards for both had some classics, too. Simon Brown vs Maurice Blocker on the first; Jeff Fenech vs Azumah Nelson on the second, if I remember correctly.

And Tyson crushed Bruno who outboxed Lewis before the KO.

We can play this game all day.

Tyson was a sucker for Ruddock's uppercut, fortunately for him he had an iron chin.

Tyson could've easily been DQ'd for the amount of low blows he landed that night, almost Golota'ish. Although in fairness Ruddock's trunks were pretty high.

Since forever, I've told people, if you think Mike Tyson didn't have a chin just watch both Ruddock fights.

didn't Mike break Ruddock's ribs and jaw? not sure about the jaw but i know he broke some ribs. Ruddock was game as can be but limited, no stamina and a limited arsenal, not too great of a chin either but lots of courage. Dangerous fighter, the dokes kayo is one of the more devestating heavyweight kayo's i can think of.

Well there’s always some guy who you just can’t KO for whatever reason.
Iron jaw, just happens to see your punches coming better, motivation, can’t set yourself up against him right proper due to his specific attributes, he sees your timing better or you just can’t find his.

^happens.

I think so but he also broke Tyson’s jaw too. In the first or second fight. Can’t remember.
Anyways, somebody in his team .....or maybe Mike himself.......once said that it was the Razor Ruddock fights that made him more risk averse and .....I won’t say fear but uncomfortable........with taking punches in fights.
