Ronda Rousey complementing her awesome attacking top game judo
newaza with the survival mindset and bottom game specialty of GJJ.

UFC 168: Weidman vs Silva 2 / Rousey vs Tate 2 Post-Fight Press Conference

Transcript:

QUESTION: Ronda, I would say your inventiveness tonight with your jiu-jitsu was really kind of a stand out thing in my mind watching you. Was that something you knew you'd really need, you know.. different positions, different ways to finish the fight with Miesha?

RONDA: For the last two camps, I've been training with Rener and Ryron Gracie.. and we focused a lot on being in the worst case scenarios. I trained a lot on being on the bottom, and being in places where I traditionally would never be in a judo match.. and so I really tried to fill those holes. I really think that helped in the positions I was in.. and still like doing the most damage, even though it would be considered the bad position. It really gave me a lot more confidence and stuff.

Of course it was the couple of months she worked with Rener and Ryron that made her a arm bar machine! It has nothing to do with the 20+ years of Judo training and working with her Mom who was a newaza specialist. Her transitions are exactly like I was taught in JUDO not in Jiu Jitsu. I'm sure they showed her some things but don't come in here and try to ride that wave and throw up GJJ all over it.

GJJ turned her into an armbar machine? Really? That was your comprehension of Ronda's own words?

My point is this isn't a win for Judo or Jiu Jitsu. It's a win for Ronda. Does GJJ have to ride the coat tail?

This is funny. For "survival" grappling or whatever the heck marketing term the Gracie brothers are applying to their "essentially the same as most people's grappling", Rousey actually did a terrible job of that.

Do you guys remember Miesha kicking her square in the head from the guard several times? That dazed Rousey and was easily solved by good posture, which should be a survival grappling tenet drilled early on.

Do you remember Ronda slowly, slowly working a terrible triangle that didn't happen because she was so focused on the armbar? Where's the quick switch that could have finished Tate in that round?

Where's the technical stand-up? She needlessly back rolled out of one instance of being on her back. Tate actually did a technical stand-up later on.

Basically, the Gracie brothers didn't help much with her overall game and she's still using what she's learned with the Armenians/LeBell/judo people without much tweaks. See the multiple Iaskevitch rolls, mediocre guard passing and insistence on armbars as the proof.

This is funny..

Correct. It is funny. The disrespect and discredit of Ronda's own words is hilarious!

What does that have to do with the Judo set up and turnover in to a arm bar she used to win that fight? Nothing!

Answer the question Nancy. Whatever they taught her had nothing to do with arm bar she won with.

That's basically my point. They didn't have enough time to actually teach her much of anything - and she didn't display anything in particular that was more finely honed or better in terms of technique because of them.

She played her usual game and won. Maybe if she trained a bunch more with them, something concrete would result. But right now, it's like saying JJ Watt is the monster he is because of his first Houston Texans training camp before the season began.

And SBJ will never yield that point because he's probably a paid shill/blind devotee.

I love how this dude just keeps posting videos and everyone starts frothing at the mouth lol

it is very simple. she focussed on being on bottom and on her back. just small details. (like she says in the quote).

where is it claimed that whatever they taught her is responsible for the win? take a chill pill man.

I'm pissed at the marketing angle they are trying to use to claim some of HER win. If you don't see it I can't help you.

GJJ propaganda runs thick in here.

Lol at Judo guys or anyone getting pissed over two of the top Gracie's in the game today putting out a video saying that Rousey came in and basically showed them a bunch of stuff and was humble and polite and that her armbar is the best they have witnessed in both Judo and BJJ.

This place is unreal! Honestly UNREAL!

She sought them out FFS!!!!!!!!
