So Brendan is proud that Matt Damon has no idea who he is, just that Jon Jones beat the crap out of him and others in training without any sleep?
I'm not sure it's something to brag about.

I agree, but I don't think Schaub is an intellectual specimen. He was a decent athlete but he's lucky he met Rogan and Rogan likes him for some reason.

Lol @ calling him "decent". He has a winning record in the UFC HW division, beat Cro Cop, should have a win vs Arlovski.
Beat Cro Cop like Jake Paul beat Tyson… no context needed right?

I'll be happy to provide you with some context:

Mike Tyson was 58 when he lost to Jake Paul.

Cro Cop was 36 when he lost to Schaub.

Mike Tyson hadn't fought for 20 years.

Cro Cop was in the midst of his actual career when he fought Schaub, and Cro Cop ended his carreer on a 10 fight winning streak after losing vs Schaub.

Mirko was washed at 33, no one who follows the sport considers post Open Weight GP Mirko the same fighter anymore, so it’s not only about age it’s about mileage, injuries and mindset.

The Mirko that Schaub beat is the same one that Roy Nelson, Olexei Oleinik and washed up Frank Mir beat, that was no longer Cro Cop, that was just Mirko, and all those guys would get left kicked to the cemetery if they actually fought Cro Cop.

Seriously. The lengths fans will go to in attempt to write Brendan's mma career off has always been hilarious to me.

He may not have been up to snuff back when HW had 10+ world class fighters, but he had a solid career whether they'll give him credit for one or not

Fair enough, but the Paul Tyson comparison was a bad one. Tyson was washed at the turn of the century, guy had a medical scare like 6, 7 months before he eventually fought Paul

The amount of casuals telling me how Mike was still Mike and power is the last thing to go, lol.
Mirko was damaged goods, no arguments here

He wasn't 20 years away from his last win by knockout like Mike was though. He wasn't having serious ambulatory issues just to board a plane in the months leading up to Schaub knocking him out.

Well, it's always great that you get to choose exactly when a fighter was out of his prime. So that it gets to fit your narrative.

I don't even wanna "defend" Schaub, but he's definitely getting too much shit on because of his persona, podcast and so on.

He was a way better fighter than one would think when reading Sherdog. Would probably beat prime Cro Cop.

It's not even that. I've been getting random Mythbusters re-runs recommended to me on Youtube lately. I randomly decided to watch one and out of nowhere fucking Schaub is introduced as the guy they're going to have test out the DOOM myth of can you really carry all those guns and ammo and still run a DOOM level killing shit. And not, you know, get a SEAL or something with actual combat training.

Son of a bitch, to his credit Schaub blew them out of the park and did like 3x better time than Adam and Jaime. Not a SEAL or anything, just a big athletic guy did the course successfully in a massive improvement. I have no idea if Schaub even has any shooting training.

Schaub was EVERYWHERE back in the day. And this episode was after the Browne loss and the Rogan podcast where Rogan publicly told him to retire. Rogan definitely helped his career, but Schaub was getting pushed by others too. He was supposed to be some next big thing and then got memed into oblivion by Sherdoggers for his losses and how Rogan confronted him publicly instead of privately.

It was obviously a more egregious example but it makes the point. No one is out there glazing Jared Cannonier cause he beat Anderson Silva, or comparing Aiman Zahabi to Aldo cause he got a win over him.

LOL @ Schaub.
