Hi everyone, I have been boxing for a week now and looking to purchase a pair of bag gloves. The loaner pair used at my academy was a pair of old rivals but i liked them and have heard good things about the brand so im looking to order mainly either RB1s or RB2s. As a beginner do i really even need RB1's? or is it really worth the extra 20

Bag Gloves - Rival Boxing Gear Inc.

That is the page with both gloves. Also my instructor told me to get 14 oz gloves but the site says 14 oz is for someone 165 pounds and up, im 130 so im not sure there either. Finally, for handwraps will 180" mexican handwraps be fine?

Thanks!

I use the RB3's

Have you measured your hand? Take a fabric tape measure and wrap it around your knuckles.

You are 130? I suggest the 12oz as well.

Rival is a good brand. I personally have the 10 oz RB1 even though Im 150. I initially was going to pick up either 12/14 oz but I heard from others that their sizes are a little different than other brands. Mine fits me perfectly and it's a very comfortable glove to do bag work in.

I've heard great things about Rival and nearly ordered a pair for myself. I just couldn't get past the tacky design....every glove has like 6 rival logos on it covering every major area. If they sold a more subtle looking glove I would've been all over that.
