Passed away last night at age 71 after brief illness. Loved him as Robin Colcord on Cheers.

One of my favourite episodes is when he bets Sam a weeks salary, and Sam cheats at chess while the gang are doing moves on a computer in the back room to help Sam win.

I remember him from Robin Hood: Men in tights or whatever it was called. Good actor with a recognizable face.

I remember him as the British Ambassador in The West Wing.

IMO, still one of the best sitcoms ever.

A shame, I was quite surprised to find out his age. Never would've guessed.

71? The fuck? How is that dude 71 already?

He'd have been about 49 when Cheers ended 22 years ago. Frasier's 11 year stint has come and gone in that time. I have to take a moment at times to realise how long ago the 90s were.

time waits for no man.

cheers = one of the GOAT shows. doesn't get nearly enough love.

That's fucking crazy. Time really does fly and our lives are but a flicker upon the landscape of eternity. I'm 33 and it's amazing to me that I'm really that old. Before I know it, I'll be 71 and dead like Rees. That's crazy to think about.

BTW, I never did realize that the Sheriff from Robin Hood: MIT was the same guy who played Uncle Fred in the 1984 adaptation of A Christmas Carol (with George C. Scott). This bit of trivia I'm sure will not be of interest to anyone here but me, but I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to my favorite Dickens story and that kind of blew my mind about 5 minutes ago when I figured that out.

Its one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time.

i meant around these parts. i never see it in tv polls, and it rarely gets mentioned in threads that i can remember.

midlife. is normal. get yourself a few young girlfriends and a red sports car. sometimes fuck without a rubber. skydive a few times. just enjoy the ride. everything will be return to way it was before in a few short years.

First Cindy Mancini from Can't Buy Me Love, then Omar Sharif, now this dude.

Why is it always 3??

And even she got her own thread. No love for Dr. Zhivago.
