Chuck Schuldiner was and always will be the biggest inspiration and influence to my guitar playing and style. Without Chuck and what he did with Death, Death Metal as a genre wouldn't be where it is today. He is after all the Godfather of Death Metal and will always be its greatest contributor. The last three death albums Individual Thought Patterns, Symbolic and The Sounds Of Perseverance are the three greatest Death Metal and some of the best Heavy Metal albums to ever be produced. Chuck dying was one of the worst blows to metal we will ever see. Nobody in my eyes could play with such technical ability and soul as Schuldiner could. RIP buddy, your music will live on through the countless fans who adore you and what you gave to Heavy Metal. :(

Good post. Chuck is a legend

That he is and he deserves more love from the metal community. Everyone talks about how horrible it was that Dime died but fail to bring up Chuck. I find as good as Dime was Chuck was infinitely more better and for me a bigger influence overall on heavy metal. I mean how many Death Metal bands ended up going the more technical route the minute they notice Chuck and company doing it? A whole slew.

great guitar player and an inspiration to countless bands.

though i would place trey azagthoth and morbid angel as a more important band to the genre.

both were necessary in the creation of death metal.

RIP, dude. Gonna jam some Death tonight in his honor. Human and Symbolic, I believe.

Great post ts. You are right he doesn't get enough credit for how great he was how how great death was.

Rest in peace to a very talented musician.

Sucks to see someone go before their time.

Great pick on the songs man you pick my two favourite ones fucking awesome.

SORELY missed. my last band would do a medley of pull the plug, lack of comprehension, and without judgement as tribute to him at shows. we mashed all three into like a 11 minute long death song.

Man, it's been that long since he passed? I've been enjoying Scream Bloody Gore lately.

Maybe. From my perspective Death was an innovator and leader in the genre. Morbid Angel just sold the most death metal records.

A true legend who will always be under-appreciated as well as many other metal musicians. Tis a real shame metal is such an under-appreciated genre.

I dont listen to Heavy Metal/Metal.

But I can definitely respect the shit out of it. And enjoy watching some of the instrumentals. Im more into the Jam Band scene/Funk/Jazz..

And as for Metal guitarist and bassists... They really fit into Jazz for me.
Its like high tempo jazz.. On major amounts of cocaine. Good shit.

The remastered versions of deaths CDs got some instrumentals on them they are awesome of course should check em out. Crystal mountain instrumental is amazing.

Now that Death's catalogue has been re-mastered i might go back and listen again.

I don't think i ever truly appreciated it due to the recording quality.
I have been too spoiled with over produced/digital recorded metal.

Still mindblowlingy technical for that time period.
