So I've never had this problem back in my days of TMAs since I mainly practiced TKD which rarely makes use of punches or hand strikes in competition, but since beginning to work on Muay Thai and Boxing this has become more of a problem.
I'm Right-Hand dominant, yet Left Foot dominant. My Left footedness is confirmed in board sports where I ride goofy, as well as in soccer or football where I'm much more comfortable and effective kicking with my left foot.
In TKD I would frequently switch stances, and make uses of feints and switch kicks, but now that I'm working on my hands more I'm finding myself feeling awkward at times in the orthodox stance. The Southpaw stance definitely feels better from a circling/movement standpoint, yet its quite evident that my left hand lacks any real power when compared to my right.
I'm wondering if this is a problem anyone else has had with opposing handedness and foot dominance, and if so how you worked around it. I've also started to train grappling as part of a more complete MMA program, and I definitely shoot much better from southpaw stance.
