...on youtube because it was posted as a free fight (boo-hoo if you can't watch based on your country).

Before rewatching, I had the impression that Khabib didn't try as hard as he could to get the fight to the ground in the third round because he wanted to show Conor that he wasn't afraid of his standup, and that Conor won the third because of this.

After rewatching, Khabib really did seem to get the fight on the ground on the third round but was unable to. And even if Conor might've technically "won" the third in the eyes of the judges, he didn't connect with anything significant. The pro-Conor crowd were cheering at everything he threw even if Khabib effectively blocked or ducked most of Conor's strikes. That round could've been scored as a draw if there wasn't a pro-Conor crowd.

that's cool, i'm not re-watching it again because the main takeaway i recall from the fight was how egregiously conor cheated and fouled. love conor, probably even a tad more than khabib, but that was some serious scumbag shit

i've no interest in seeing that again

I think he simply took the round off because he was tired, and Conor (whose goose was completley cooked at this point) had nothing to threaten him with. Conor's punches had no power, and his reflexes were gone. Khabib tried to take Conor down, but he too had lost some pop,and needed to conserve his energy.

Even still,Conor mentally broke in this round. (its just business)
He couldnt take the non stop pressure, and hostility even from a tired Khabib.

I re-watched the fight 30 times.

The third round was only "even" because Khabib wanted to beat the fuck out of Conor at his own game. Khabib failed to KO Connor and the third, but he bitch-slapped him, and forced Conor backward after the first two minutes. I thought Khabib won the third, but the judges were panhandling to McGregor.

Khabib decimated Conor in Rounds 1, 2, and finished him in the 4th.

Conor only was "in" the third because Khabib let him be in the third.

Period

It was actually just easier to stand w Conor at that point than expend energy trying to take him down, because Conor was no longer a threat anywhere. Conor was too tired.

My main takeaways from this fight were:

Conor doesn’t hit as hard as we made it out be, certainly not the “touch of death” as Firas Zahabi claimed.

But also, Conor got amazing takedown defense. Even D1 Gaethje couldn’t stuff Khabib but Conor did it 3 or 4 times.

Fence grab, glove grab, shorts grab and knee strikes to the head of a grounded opponent.

Yet this is some people's hero. Gross.

There was never more cheating allowed in a single fight in the history of the UFC. They really REALLY wanted Mcgoober to win at all cost.

Knee to a downed opponent, hooking gloves, grabbing shorts, multiple cage grabs, constant toes in the fence, and not 1 single warning or point taken. A normal run of the mill Joe would've been disqualified after the 5th foul.

Khabib tired himself out beating the heck out of conman in the 2nd. It's amazing that the fight wasn't stopped, but Herb was obviously instructed to give conman every advantage possible having turned a blind eye to his egregious cheating grabbing the fence, grabbing Khabib's shorts and gloves, illegal strikes, etc. The clown never even gave him a warning.

A complete and total one sided stomping. But one thing that still mystifies me was Conor’s ability to stop the takedown in the first. The only thing I can think of was that khabib had a lot of nerves and wasn’t flowing yet. Because if you watch the stuffs Conor used against beebs takedowns, they are anything but impressive or skillful

Conor fouled a lot but he did show extremely good tdd
Khabib landed less shots in the 3rd round, but he landed by far the more significant shots. I can only remember a decent uppercut from Conor

Conor fought like a scared man and came to survive and imo that is why he made it in to the late rounds.

Conor didn't do as shit as many others, but he didn't do anything significant either.

Justin may have been finished quicker and looked like an amateur on the ground, but he beat fuck out of Khabib's leg and landed many hard shots of his own. He came to win

Khabib proved he was a much superior mixed martial artist and there was no reason for a rematch

There are fighters conor beat that were more worthy of a rematch. While the Aldo punch wasn't a fluke, it was also a once in a lifetime chance. It would never happen in a rematch. We really didn't get to see how the fight play out and that is to Conor's credit

But Khabib proved a much superior fighter and it eats Conor and his silly little fanbase

99% of sherbros are bullshitting whenever they say "I love fighter X but ..." before bashing said fighter. Whenever someone does that, I can be 99% certain that person is a hater of the fighter. But when I read your post and saw your signature, I insert bj-penn-nodding-head meme. I am not disappoint. You're genuine.

Herb let Conor cheat more than Jon does and Conor still couldn't find a way to win.

Excellent reffing from the GOLD STANDARD Herb Dean as usual.
