What a weird fight. Poor Font, doing all that just to get hit with a big shot and lose the round. Chito just brutalized him. His power is so good. But also his defense and offense very underrated as well. His timing and patience led him to put on these performances. And he broke Font. I don't know if he can come back from this and be the same. That was brutal

Font rushed back too soon from having his orbital broken from Aldo. He also should have chilled out more in that chito fight and picked his shots rather than just spam 500 strikes and allow openings for big counters.

I think font is done at the top level, but he still might be good enough to beat guys trying to break into the top 15 like yanez. We'll see.

Chito doesn't have the greatest defense, however he does roll with shots very well and have an insane chin in a division with some big hitters.
Solid performance here from him and his next fight against Sandhagen is a fantastic bout that I'm really excited for.

For Font, he definitely shouldn't have taken this fight so soon after that brutal bout he had against Aldo.
It was clear he wasn't recovered 100% which also resulted in him missing weight here, good thing that now he's taking a year plus off going into his return bout against a solid and winnable fight against Yanez.
Idk if he'll be the same tho, dude has taken some major damage and is getting up there in age for a BW.

Chito has spectacular defense. Sometimes you may not recognize it in real time, but overall his body of work its incredible how good he is at rolling and avoiding. He's technical and patient with good power.

Overall bad matchup for Font, who is just shy of this level of competition. This was outside his reach. Chito made a really good fighter look average.

Might be a hot take, but Font always struck me as an over-achiever. He has some solid wins, but he also benefited from timing as he encountered some big names on big downswings. He’s looked average against the elite, however, and Chito really put it on him. This is a winnable fight for him, but I could just as easily see him tumble down should he lose, as some of the same fighters he beat have done before him. Marlon Morales, Thomas Almeda, Cody Garbrant and even Roop waaaay back all went on skids after or during their encounters with Font.

Chito's power is a complete myth. Font just has no chin, he gets rocked by any clean shot to the chin. Sure Chito has had some nice highlights recently but most of them were headkicks. Not hating on Chito, he's awesome, but people need to chill with the "power" narrative.

Chito has alright defense but honestly it’s his chin/durability that are special and allow his style to work - he will let guys like Cruz/Font pot-shot and pick at him so he can make reads and get the timing to land power counters.

He isn’t slipping/rolling/parrying most shots, but he does make enough adjustments to where he doesn’t get landed on super clean and he has great eyes/calmness so he sees the shots and is ready to eat them.

Tough matchup against Corey for him.

Hm. I would love to see an analysis, see which of you is closer to right.

Really I think you might both be right.

Some beatings can fuck you up permanently. This is why I have a ton of respek for mma fighters.

Chito and O'malley need to rematch ASAP.

IMO Chito breaks him and either KO's him or makes him quit.

Yan vs Chito would be insanity. From what I've seen Chito will take everything Yan dishes out and come back at him just as hard.

Vera has great power for the 135 class. When he’s touches people it’s often very impactful. A rare thing to see for the smaller guys.

Just listen to this ground and pound starting at 1:00 and tell me it’s not powerful

Some nasty elbows for sure but it doesn't really prove your point. Elbows like headkicks are nasty in general, that doesn't mean you have special power. If you find some footage of Chito knocking down/out anyone WITH A PUNCH let me know (anyone except glass chin Font that is). Like O'Malley, Yan, Moraes, Garbrandt, and plenty of BWs did throughout their careers.

Yeah that was a bummer for Font, font seems like a good dude and has skills but man Chito is just a monster

I didn’t know we were solely talking about punching power since this is MMA. He has good power in his hands but he’s not a 1 punch guy typically. Although his timing is getting better and better and I could see him getting more knockouts soon enough.

This is 135… Yan and Moraes don’t have a one punch KO in the UFC and Cody only has one. These guys usually need multiple strikes

Come one dude, everyone has concussive power with elbows and headkicks. When we say someone has power it's usually about punches. Otherwise Wonderboy, Jones, Gane, GSP, Leon Edwards all have power because they've hurt guys with kicks and elbows.

I get it, it's BW. But for example Yan had kockdowns in every one of his fights until Aljo 2 (with punches). Sean has either KO'd or severely hurt most of his opponents with punches as well. That's BW power and Chito doesn't have that. Still a hell of a fighter.

Ye, Yan vs Chito one of my dream fights. Yan vs TJ was also one of my dream fights. Unfortunately it was too late and TJ was out of his prime
