I ordered the Atama black backpack a while ago. I initially got interested in it because it is made out of gi material and needed a larger book bag for the gym/traveling.

You can find it here: ::::::::::: Atama Kimnos :::::::::::

This backpack turned out to be perfect for plane rides and going on weekend excursions in Ireland during my time studying abroad. You can pretty much fit everything you need for a weekend in it or store your heavy items that you need to bring to an airport to save weight for your checked baggage. The shoulder straps are comfortable and the material is nice.

Pros:
Comfortable material
Several compartments
Rope enclosure never comes undone
Plenty of space

Cons:
Front pocket can't hold much
Front pocket only has one zipper so it can only open in one direction
Says mixed martial arts in big letters (might be kind of flashy)
Takes a while to tie the rope enclosure
Gi material requires specific cleaning instructions for first wash (haven't done that yet)

All in all I would give it a 9/10. I would give it a 10/10 if the front pocket could zip up and down using two zippers and perhaps change the MMA lettering to BJJ (personal preference). Great buy and I think it's on sale at Atama for about 70 bucks right now.

I have the bad boy one and I hate it. I ordered a Dasusara battlepack instead.

How does maintenance work with these kinda bags? Won't they get wet/stinky after awhile if you stuff your gi in there?

There are two compartments in it (the one on the inside and the one on the bottom) that are meant for this purpose that are supposed to keep the funk down. When I got this package I got the same instructions for cleaning as you would with any other gi they sell (IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CARING FOR YOUR ATAMA PRODUCTS).

Hope that helps, I seriously like this bag. I walked for hours through Ireland carrying about 20 or more pounds of gear with no discomfort.

thanks for the review, would prefer BJJ over MMA as well.
