He said something really interesting concerning his loss in BKFC 56.

They asked him "what the difference was" between Bare Knuckle Fight Club and MMA (or boxing).

Alvarez said,
"You have to accept the fact you're going to take serious damage.
In MMA, you can get away with being 'an athlete'; in boxing, you can get away with 'being an athlete.'
In bareknuckle fighting, you have to be a fighter. You have to be willing to accept the punishment."

Dude was crazy to come up in weight and face a guy like Mike Perry (who annihilated the bigger Luke Rockhold), but Eddie did it.

Looks like they may even have a rematch.

Hespect.

Hespect to Eddie Alvarez.
I feel too many people have written him off since his bad loss to Conor and he has been underrated a lot on here
He is quite an accomplished fighter, won championship belts in both Bellator and UFC
Has some solid wins over champions/former/interim champions in RDA, Gaethje, Pettis etc

It was his debut fight in One FC where I started to write him off, glad he wasn't knocked out cold against Chad & Perry though, tough watch

To be fair, the early days of sports are always like that, even boxing. UFC/MMA was really raw early on with all the random tough guys who could compete, but then the sport grew and the 'athletes' eventually came and took over.

If Bare Knuckle were to grow beyond the novelty and generate some serious money (which I doubt because why would anyone with talent do this over boxing?), eventually athletes would come in and take it over just as well. But for the foreseeable future, this is the sport for the ham-and-egg Mike Perry's and Eddie Alvarez's of the world.

Early UFC guys fought bareknuckle as well. Tank Abbott was the first guy to wear his version of MMA gloves at UFC 6. Boxer Melton Bowen may have worn something similar at UFC 4 and of course Art Jimmerson wore the infamous one boxing glove...but I'm pretty sure everyone else was bareknuckled for a while.

Eddie did great. Fight was very even. If anything, I'd have to see the stats but eddie was landing more and good shots. Ultimately two tough bastards but the bigger man could take them and inflict more damage with ( what appeared to be) slightly less landed.
Eddie fought a great fight. Man's not even a big lW in mma. Big balls on ed

True.

I said elsewhere, that Eddie should have never touched any weights in his life.

If he would've kept lean, and fought down at 145, there aren't many people that could beat him at that weight.

Instead, he body-built himself to 155 — and then moved up again to fight a dog like Perry in an even bigger weight.

Respect Eddie's heart, but his savvy as a self-manager isn't there.

I think Eddie Alvarez would kill Volkanovski at 145, with Pereira as a way cutting coach, if he got rid of all that excess muscle, and just tried to be a lean killer lar at 145.

If he would’ve came out for the next round he could’ve won the fight, he wrecked Perry’s face and was rocking him with jabs.
Pretty much. I had Eddie winning round 1 and a pretty close round 2 is up for debate. But he was tagging Perry with whatever he wanted essentially. Would have even an interesting round 3 given Perry’s face at the end of it.

Eddie, you let us down when we really needed you, you fangirl. I don't care how "tuff" you are. Good for you.

I don't care for that Human Cockfighting in BKFC. Move this to the boxing forum.

Quitting on the stool is the most embarrassing way to lose.

Lost hespect for Edgy Alvarez. Tbh

He's 39yo and has 42 professional fights. A world champion in several organizations and weight classes.

And you have the audacity to say you "lost respect" because he decided he couldn't continue after two rounds of utter bloodbath against an opponent naturally two weight classes above him? And you have the nerve to say he lost in an embarrassing way?
