TLDR: Rodriguez got a temporary tattoo from sponsor Golden Palace, but since it was a competitor for the Mohegan Sun (which is where that UFC PPV was taking place), they told the UFC days before the event that it was cancelled. The UFC was losing a lot of money at this point in time and a cancelled event, according to Dana, would've put them out of business...all because of a temporary tattoo. Dana and the Fertittas managed to work it out with the Mohegan Sun and the event went on as planned.

Dumb move by rico tbh. Like got no problem with fighters getting sponsor money but have some sense. Had to know getting a rival casinos name tattooed on your back was going to be a bad call.

The man bet on himself on that fight (like literally. he committed a crime), I doubt he gave a single fuck about getting sponsored by a rival.

Oh i definitely realized he didn't care. But he also got psuedo black listed by the ufc as well for a while after he lost the belt, then had that stinker with Pedro for his last fight with them. He griped about that black listing at a time, but he really only had himself to blame.

is it really illegal to bet on yourself WINNING? betting on the other guy, of course, because you could take a dive. but I dont think its illegal to bet on yourself winning.

could be wrong tho

It's a weird situation. Cause internally, betting on yourself isn't a conflict of interest as it dosen't affect your personal output. You're still trying to win. The potential for conflict lies in betting on yourself though is if you regularly bet on yourself, then suddenly don't on a certain match and that information gets out. It tells betters you're potentially not confident. Giving them insider info they shouldn't have. I don't know if it is legal or not as i've never needed to care. But i'd think it has the potential to be illegal in places for that reason.

it’s not illegal nor is your betting public information

The only way that would be discoverable is if someone literally went out and said “ I usuAlly bet on myself but this time I’m not “
- the odds would adjust big time after

I think it has potential to get out easier than that in a digital age. But it's why I said has to potential to be outlawed in places that i'm not aware of as i've seen that concerned been mentioned more than once. I was under the impression it wasn't illegal to do so in the US but again i never really needed to care so i just never went to find out. I've definitely heard of more than one person betting on themselves and I never really batted an eye at it.

should have just fought in a shirt...like he did when he got fat...er

i believe tony Martin said he’s been betting on himself in his post fight speech last time out

def no rule against it

Sadly still fighting - he fought this year

His weight seems to be under control now but looks like he may still be battling drug problems
That’s so sad . I mean everybody Makes they’re own bed and has to lie in it but still sucks .

addiction is something that’s hard to understand and extremely difficult to battle

One of my best friends became an alcoholic instantly after his first drink

we were 16 and got drunk at his house while his parents were on vacation - I threw up and was disgusted and went into “im never going to drink again in my life mode “ and he just continued the next day and hasn’t looked back for 18 years now

Now he is drinking himself to death - his grandpa and dad did the same too

I know you make your own bed but unfortunately with addiction and people’s genetic prepositions to them it makes it extremely hard for them for combat it
