Looks like Rampage is outta shape here but still a good vid to watch. In the vid he's Working with Dewey Cooper. Hope Rampage can get through all the legal stuff and get to fight soon.

Enjoy

he looks really out of shape and old here haha

In his prime he was a physical monster and one of the most ahtletic LHWs he wasn't slow, was apparently super strong and hit really hard.
Even past his prime he retained his power but lost a lot of athleticism and even his power didnt look that great vs Maldonado he doesn#t move the way he used to and it's not surpising he's close to 40 and has been fighting wars since the early 2000s.

he also declined tehcnically which is a bit shocking tbf in the mid 2000s he had technically better striking than in recent years and his wrestling used to be really really good I mean he started out as a wrestler but nowadays no one would know and he gets taken down by decent but not great restlers like Glover.

Tbf he was the first guy to defend Jones' TDs consistently (until he got tired).

But against jones he only swung hooks without any setups and nowadays he has no headmovement his hips look really really stiff especially in this video it could also be his knee injuries but his legs are almost straight, he doesnt change levels or moves his head well and like against Maldonado it even affects his power.

And I say all that as a HUGE Rampage fan but he's just not the same guy anymore he was a few years ago let alone in the mid 2000s

Rampage hasn't looked good since he beat Chuck Liddell and Dan Henderson in 2007. He reached the pinnacle of his career, & then made sure it stayed the pinnacle.

He's at least on a winning streak currently. But, I'm not so sure he really beat King Mo. I know I wouldn't have scored it for Rampage.

Damn you guys are right. His legs and back seem super stiff and he doesn't use his legs at all in anything, especially his head movement.

Looks really shitty here. Not to mention fat and out of shape. And who is Dewey cooper?

Damn he's still going to fight? He used to be one of my favorite fighters when he was in Pride. Always liked his style, and seemed to be natural fighter. Thought he'd be good at boxing if he went to that instead of MMA, though his chin wasn't the greatest.

I actually thought his striking looked way more diversified in his last couple fights in comparison to recent years. I mean, he actually threw kicks for once...

sure, he's slower but the guy is closer to 40 than 30. maybe he's just getting back into shape after a layoff. or maybe he's been streaming too many video games on Twitch. either way, we'll see if he fights again (and he probably will).

Dewey "Black Kobra" Cooper...K-1 fighter from back in the days.

Wow, surprised by how Rampage looks here, not great.

Yeah obviously Rampage is slower and older. And he's def out of shape in this vid. And I agree that Rampage has passed his prime years, I'm still a die hard prideFC guy and I want all those throwback fighters (shogun, Hendo, etc) to have success. I know Rampage won't be world champ again, but I'd like to see him go out with some wins! Hopefully now that he's old, they will mAtch him up right with other strikers or as Rampage would say, "give me someone who will try to finish me and not just hump my leg" 😂

His chin wasn't the greatest? Rampage has always had one of the better chins in the division. He only got knocked unconscious by a Wanderlei Silva knee, other than that he has taken some beatings without going out.

Anyways in his prime Rampage was fun to watch but he doesn't look good in this video and his last several fights have been either underwhelming performances or KOs against overmatched opposition. I don't really think he has much to offer the division at this point. His only effective weapon is his left hook, he can't close the distance well enough to use it, and he went from being one of the more athletic fights in the division to one of its less athletic fighters.

Shogun also knee'd him to defeat but yeah Rampage had a pretty good chin and still has at worst an average chin

Shogun TKO'd him, Wanderlei TKO'd him the first time as well, but the only time he has actually gone to sleep is the second Wanderlei fight. His chin is definitely solid although that can change, he hasn't even been dropped much during his career.

Is this the first time back in the gym? He looked really surprised about having to do 6 punch combinations.

It's always hard to get used to a new pad holder.
They each have their combinations. Sometimes even calling them out by numbers, where "1" is THEIR first combination - jab, right, jab, jab - and not just one Jab.
It's not unusual for people to think you are "new" or "bad" if you are getting the riddum and combinations down.

Nice video. Hope to see more videos as he get back into shape.

Always liked Rampage's MMA boxing. I also like his way of blocking punches.

i took the video guys. thanks for the plug. rampage said it was the first time he has hit pads since April.

As for Dewey Cooper, he is an awesome trainer IMO. He has more intensity than any trainer I have seen, and he is more involved than any trainer. He isn't for everyone, but if you need someone to push you, he is the guy. I just signed my first fighter and it was Dewey we looked to as a trainer.

Here is dewey and rampage after the session.
