Heres a quick review on some everlast flexcool hand wraps. I usually dont enjoy any type of gear my family gets me for christmas. They'll usually get me something you can find at any sporting goods store or walmart so when I saw these in my gift bag I wasnt expecting much, but once I opened them I realised I had a legit piece of gear in my hands and these would be getting put to use.
These wraps are very stretchy and have little breathing holes. I dont know how long they will hold up or if that little feature even helps but it doesnt seem like it will be an issue. It seems like it all depends on the inside if your gloves. The more abrasive the more its gonna wear these out. Thats just my opinion though, I havent had them long enough to really see what theyre made of. I've only used them for a couple rounds on the heavbag & double end bag with my 16oz gloves.
*Update*
Sparred a couple rounds with these and my hands felt great. It took me a while to wrap my hands though, it doesnt seem like its getting easier to wrap them, everytime its a pain. You have to keep tension on them while wrapping.
I usually focus on my knuckles a little more than my wrists when wrapping. When I use normal mexican handwraps sometimes its hard to make a good fist because theres not much give in the wraps or theres too much around my palm/knuckles. Thats the cool thing about these. They have a lot more flex so when you make a fist it feels really good.
Personally I love these wraps(when I wrap them right) They're deffinitely not for everyone though. Im still playing with them and trying to figure out the best tension to wrap my hands. You cant wrap them too loose but you cant stretch them too tight when youre wrapping or you'll just cut off circulation. I found it a little harder wrapping with these. All in all I would not reccomend them to everyone. If you have trouble making a good closed fist in normal wraps, try these if a friend has them or see if someone at your local gym has them. They cost about 15 bucks. I wont buy another set. They take longer to wrap than normal wraps do, it took a lot longer for me to get ready to spar.
*Update*
Id rate them a 5/10 only because they dont have these wraps in more colors, not much wrist suport, difficult to wrap, a bit bulky(good for gloves with a bigger hand compartment though) , and the velcro straps were too long for me. Other than that I feel these were a nice change from my pbs mexican handwraps and give me a softer hitting surface over my knuckles. I use them once or twice a week, just to try to see if they grow on me. Ive seen a guy at the gym using these and he had them wrapped with no tension at all, I guess some people will make that mistake and wrap them too loose. These wraps also smell a little like rubber and leave your hands smelly like an ace bandage after sparring a couple rounds. Youre either gonna love these or hate them.
