I used the search function and didnt find many reviews and/or posts that were not over 2 years old, which means the BAS has had improvements (Like the plastic connecting the head to the stand is now metal) and I dont know if anyone has gotten one since then.

I have been wanting to buy one of these for about a year, never pulling the trigger because it is expensive and infomercial-ly. But I have the money and I keep thinking about picking one up to use for conditioning.

A big part of my routine is the Bas Rutten workout CD's for cardio, becuse running sucks when you have flat feet. I still go to the Dojo for Kyokushin, study Dutch-Style Kickboxing, and box. So this is not a substitute for a mitt-holder or proper instruction, just a workout that is fun and can be somewhat helpful.

Do you think its a good purchase to accompany heavy bag work for conditioning? Any review of this piece of equipment?

hell no.

I won a t-shirt at the Arnolds last year during the expo at the stand advertising this. 60 seconds of continuous strikes. Made me feel good, and I personally enjoyed using this thing. It was a unique piece of equipment, definitely can be somewhat useful if used properly.

Although Don Frye threatened to assault me if I didn't win... which was pretty awesome.

Darn. Not what I wanted to hear at all.

Any reason in specific?

How were the mitts? And do you remember the resistance of it? Was it BOB like, Heavybag like, human like, ect?

Thank you!

I think a thai bag is a much better investment than the BAS. It wasn't the shortcomings of the product that made the G&E forums give it a bad rep. It just looks super gimmicky as a whole, and definitely not a viable replacement for more traditional training tools.

For the price of a BAS you could get a high quality banana bag AND a tear drop bag. If you wanted to be more boxing centric; speed bag, double end bag, slip bag would all be better choices than a BAS imo.

You are correct. A Thai bag would be superior.

I currently have a KO Fightgear MT Banana Bag (5 foot custom), an old school everlast (Not one of these crappy concrete settling ones) and a crappy everlast. I have a Mexican double end bag, a homemade slip ball, and a homemade accuracy ball (Tennis ball on two elastic cords) in my basement/garage gym.

I dont have the ceiling space to hang more than one bag, so I rotate my heavy bags out as needed (Which really sucks).

Thank you for the input. I may pull the trigger on a teardrop bag, its the one bag I dont have access to multiple times a week.

my reasoning is specifically what mikiemike87 stated. for the money there are better investments that you can make in my opinion. plus, having watched the videos i honestly just cant see how that thing would benefit anyone. sounds like you already have some great equipment so i'm not sure how the BAS would help you.

If I was working with someone and they continued to hold pads like the B.A.S. does, I would find a new training partner.

As was mentioned above... heavy bag!

if your heart is set on something B.A.S. get the real version, the Focus Master...I've seen some pretty established gyms and fighters using them. However like the others have said nothing beats:

6' bag
4' bag
teardrop/wreaking ball
double end bag
speed bag
jump rope
double-double end bag
cobra reflex bag
slip bag
slip cord
zebra/dollamur matts

I appreciate all the input so far guys, thank you.

Was looking at the focus master, but the system is 700, rack is 300, extendo bar another hundred, belly pad is another hundred, and in total I would blow 1200 for what I am looking for.

The focus master has a ton of clip holes for other attachments leading to combination diversity, but ultimately does not look at fun.

Maybe after income taxes get filed I can convince some guys and a gym owner to all go dutch on one...

Focus master is great !

My old karate school has a few of them and everyone loved them
