Now on this thread we will discuss the particular athletes that utilise the puerto Rican style of boxing how to do it, tendencies and more about the history of the puerto Rican style of boxing but first of I will have the description on the Puerto Rican style of boxing: Now it is a pressure style of boxing but it is not as stationary or flat footed they like to dance and they may not move a huge amount they do have a dancing rhythm in there feet and like the lead hook tendincies but that is what the puerto Rican style is less body shots than the Mexican style but they prefer to do a dancing motion with there feet so fire away with questions and answers and do remember it is a debate forum not hate.

When they have a pressure style they get ko'd especially the more recent top boxers from PR, they got beating bad when they try to put pressure and look like Mexican fighters.

I wouldn't say that buddy read above the Puerto Rican style is a pressure style Miguel cotto doesn't get knocked out, he was probably the best Puerto Rican style boxer ever, Julia Caesar to but no they generally do not get knocked out by doing that any style of fighter can get knocked out this is a peaceful forum no hate intentions thanks for the comments and criticisms of the topic.

I would say that generally they have a very mobile boxer-puncher style. I wouldn't say necessarily "pressure fighters" because their movement is more often emphasized than their aggression.

Puerto Rican style is a tough one IMO, you get a one dimensional pressure fighter like Tito Trinidad who was very effective at what he did, then you have Wilfred Benitez who was referred to as the Puerto Rican Sugar Ray Leonard and the Bible of Boxing, Wilfredo Gomez who was a one punch power KO artist with incredible conditioning, and then of course Miguel Cotto who is very unique by combining Mexican style and boxing (jab, and foot movement)

I think it's due to PR being an American territory that they get a lot of variations in styles, I personally would like to see more PR prospects follow Cottos footsteps and adopt a more aggressive body attack style, and also to train in the states at an early age, preferreably Southern Cali to learn more as opposed to just PR where there is little sparring partners to chose from

Simply put, to me Puerto Rico is the home of boxers - punchers.

No hate in my posts whatsoever, I've been here since 2005 im peaceful poster.

Now I will give you a few examples of recent PR fighters that got ko's when trying to put pressure on their opponents:

Juan Manuel Lopez vs Salido x 2
Cotto vs Margarito Plaster (in their rematch Cotto stayed at bay and survived)
Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. vs Arce
