Hi, all. First thread. I saw a post a while ago, asking how Colby Covington would fair against Kos in his best years and the general consensus was that he'd be finished. I think Koscheck takes it by TKO or possible sub due to being more skilled and though Marty is bigger and strong, I don't see it as that hard to overcome, but I might just be biased. Thoughts?

Koscheck is the more accomplished amateur wrestler but I think Usman is the better MMA wrestler

Koscheck more power but Usman better cardio, G&P, and top control

I think Usman decisions him but wouldn't be surprised if Koscheck caught him with a right hand and finished him

Tbh I think this thread is going to turn into all the GSP fans saying Koscheck would win and Tyron fans saying Usman, just to suit their own agendas.

Prime Koscheck wins no doubt.

Usman isn't really proven yet.

Dark skinned blankey vs light skinned blankey.

At this point ill take Koscheck, but once Usman gets some better matchups like Woodley, Wonderboy, Lawler or even Ponzinibbio we'll all have a better idea where he sits in the division

It is really hard to say what is prime Koscheck... If it is referring to the time he went on his run for the title then he beat Trigg, Rumble and Daley then lost convincingly to GSP. His following fight was a nice KO of Hughes.

Looking more into this period I would have to say:
Trigg - not a great win when you really look at his record.
Rumble - if this fight was at LHW it would hold alot more merit. Rumble at WW was still a killer but very depleted from the cut. Still a decent win.
Daley - A good win against a 1 dimensional fighter. It is easy to make your wrestling look good again someone who has no take down defense.
GSP - A true test for Kos. Which ended in a very one sided 50-45.
Hughes - No knock on this win. Hughes was still a legitimate threat and is a good win for Kos.

After this his career kind of spiralled downwards quickly. A split decision loss to Hendricks when he was on on a tear and losses to Lawler and Woodley are nothing to be ashamed of... after this is gets ugly.

Kos was a great fighter but think Usman would probably have his number. Usman has wins over Maia and RDA which could be argued are better than Kos' top two wins.

TLDR?

I think Usman would win a competitive fight but I would 100% watch the shit out of it.

Koscheck by Usman DQ after he attacks Koscheck between rounds 2 and 3 because of something Koscheck whispers in his ear during a clinch as the round ends.

Prime Koscheck wins no doubt.

To put things in perspective, Usman 15 fights into his career has a significantly better resume than Kos did at 15 fights.
