This game was just a league game in the Championship. Second division women's team getting more people to show up than the Sunderland mens team :p

Presumably tickets were 2 quid and included a free lambrini.

Almost always the case with these big attendances for the ladies.

Tbf, to Sunderland they have pretty decent support by and large. Yes, yes I'm sure we can see a half empty stadium for a tuesday night Carabao cup game, but averaging 40k+ in the Championship is pretty impressive.
