Maybe I am missing something but how is this a sport? In MMA you are allowed to not get hit. How is standing still and allowing your "Opponent" to throw and land a possible KO shot a sport? It is also not "Safer" IMO as you are unable to defend yourself. How do they decide who gets to go first since they might KO you and get an immediate win.
It's no different than any other sport! Hockey they drop the puck to decide who is on offense first then rotate after that, same with tennis one side always goes first then in these sports they switch back and fourth between quarters/periods/rounds whatever it is Football, Soccer they are all the same. There is no guarantee first shot will result in a KO. So it is exactly like most other sports homie, you weren't being serious with that question where you?

The big difference is for example Soccer in a shoot out they take turns but:
1. The Goalie doesn't have to stand still. They are allowed to defend.
2. You can't get the win on the first shot. If you score your opponent still gets to take their shot.

Hard to take your shot "IF" you get KO'd. The part where you have to allow your opponent to hit you without defending is why it isn't a sport. You aren't serious with your first line are you? (It's no different than any other sport!)

There's some strategy to the defense game, but I won't bother going into the fine details since nobody listens to me about it because they think I'm being flippant lol.

In a nutshell, timing is important. You can roll with the slap, but that requires impeccable timing and very few guys can pull it off without fouling (yet). You can also tense up at the last second, which is a little less reliant on timing but doesn't provide as much damage mitigation compared to rolling with it, but still works. Others just seem to close their eyes and stay tight the whole time, which is very rudimentary but works for some.

On the flip side, MMA fighters don't always get the same luxury of knowing exactly when a strike is about to come.

Just take the L and walk bud.

but Ben Askren didn't get a chance to defend himself because the first shot KOed him brah.
MMA is not a sport!

Or when Leon Edwards essentially manipulated Usman into kissing his shin after nearly 25 minutes of violence.

At least in Power Slap the strikers have to let the defender know where the strike is coming from and when it's coming. Again, a luxury that is absent in the relatively "safe" sport of MMA.

Leon should have had to tell the ref which leg and what count starting with a measure.

"left leg on three"
:D

Sean Strickland gives his controversial opinion on the growing sport of Power Slap and discusses the possibility of him competing in the sport one day.

Glad to see there are some open-minded and progressive MMA fighters out there. It's sad to see all of the unwarranted hate the growing sport of Power Slap receives. Truly a breath of fresh air.

Coin toss, and yeah, its THAT dumb, is so dumb that one of the Nevada AC guys had regrets after sanctioning it lol, but i guess it proves the power of the UFC and WME in the state, i watch the thing but only cause of the "novelty" factor, i still FF'd everything but the slaps, it has the production and everything like a true sport only that is so dumb and unsafe that i cant still believe its a real thing, i mean, a decent number of fights end with the first slap which was decided by a coin toss, everything is a foul and on top of that, Sal D'amato is a judge here, how many sports can that guy ruin? lol.

PS: I think i saw Khabib's fan girl sitting next to Don Frye and Mark Coleman, Cowboy Cerrone sitting with to Yair Rodriguez's coach, they were acting like they were having a blast, i guess drinking and watching "fights" there its cool in everyone's book, its fun, but still dumb AF and i think wont last long.

You are clearly an idiot. Doing a bad job defending =/= not being allowed to defend against the offense. For someone so intent on telling me how this is a real sport just sitting still taking shots you are doing a lot to avoid the bombs landing on your head in the form of logic and words. Just take the L like a True Power Slap Chap.

Here's a cool throwback Russell Rivero aka Steppy Joe match. Took place in the slap mecca Stockton, CA.

<{natewhut}>

Love how parents brought their children as well. Planting the seed early helps build up a future talent pool, which is great considering how fast the sport is growing. Excited to see what the future holds.

I wouldn't want to get hit by Rivero.

He "won" by DQ (stepping) in his TUF fight to enter the house bc his opponent had a concussion.

Lost by KO

Won by KO

Lost by DQ, stepping.

And should have lost by DQ again, for stepping ,on Power Slap 3. Dude just cannot keep his feet down

They literally do a coin toss to decide who goes first. And they even show the reach pretending it matters lol. I don't think anybody considers it a real sport, just an entertaining circus.
Imagine being a Power Slap Referee… lol you’d have to question your life decisions
