Possible Reason For Cain Velasquez's Knee Problems

No, it's the ridiculous amount of wrestling sparring they do.

The drill sprawls and takedowns all day.

People avoid doing this kind of exercise with much weight on it,because it could possibly damage your knees.
The way velazquez is doing it is even worse.

You have so many better ways to train that particular muscle.

Many guys said that Ronaldo(phenomeno) had his knee problems because of this partciular exercise too.he went on to have 3 surgeries and retire for good because of it.Horrible for your knees.

They need To let these fucking guys use steroids and shit so we get to,actually see the champs fight

Suppoused to be horrible for ur joints as they make ur muscles grow to fast.....

But in relation to injuries id say 70 % of fights are cancelled due to injures sustained in grappling/wrestling

......

Yeah he's bouncing it and hopefully he's not doing it with a full stack like so many brotards at the gym.

That's awful on your knees. I'm a collegiate offensive tackle and still try to keep that exercise under 120 pounds, but that's just me.

Yeah but he was also out with shoulder problems too, so he is just injury prone

I am starting to think that part of the reason injuries are becoming more common in MMA is that wrestling is likely taking up more and more training time, more of the fighters are ex wrestlers and avoiding being on your back has become such a big issue most guys likely puts more focus on it than they did in Pride.

You look back to the Pride years and Coleman/Kerr had a lot of injury issues, Arona/Filho also had a lot more injuries than the rest of BTT and were more wrestling focused.

Well, it depends on how often he does that exercise and what he does later that day. Doing that exercise once a week will wear down your joints fast. Add in three or four hard wrestling days a week. Might as well retire with the belt.
