Oliveria is a very crafty fighter both on his feet and grappling. If Poirier was overconfident going into this title fight and underestimating the man holding the belt it could be his downfall.

I expect Poirier to win, but I'll be surprised if its a dominant victory.

Guys like Olivera need to prove themselves as champions to fans. Early on fans will doubt them cause they have several losses. And history doesn't really support champions like Olivera. If we look back at champions like Jan, RDA, Alverez, Lawler, Rockhold, Werdum, etc.....these guys have several losses generally defend the belt anywhere from 0 to 2 times max. The champions that hold on to the belt a long time, are the ones that have a history of being more dominant and almost no losses. There are the exceptions, but for the most part.

He is so quick and confident, know how to stay in the pocket and stay safe and respond with finishing blows with any limb

The jiu jitsu makes him a complete nightmare

Even Conor had his moments in both fights, probably won round 1 of the first one. Hooker blasted him a lot...Gaethje got big shots in...Max had him rocked...hard to think of a fight he ever completely dominated.
