The 2021 PFL season is getting ready to kick off next month. Over the last couple of weeks we’ve seen the promotion announce the opening matchups for many of their weight classes including the men’s lightweight division.

The first round of lightweight matchups is headlined by the anticipated matchup between Anthony Pettis and Clay Collard. Today, PFL announced the welterweight matchups that will kick off on April 29th.

The headliner of the 4/29 card is the welterweight matchup between Rory MacDonald (21-6-1) and David Michaud (18-6). Michaud is no stranger to the PFL ring. He competed in the 2019 PFL season.

Looking forward to this kicking off!

Looks fun apart from Tibau Vs Kunchenko which has the potential to be, shall we say not very exciting.

I didn't know Kunchenko wasn't with UFC anymore .

Imagine being one of the world's most elite WW's, and main eventing a card against David Michaud.

Michaud is quite good tbf, he was in the finals last season. To win he'll have to fight 5 times this year, so they usually separate the big guns to start with.

Michaud isn't a bad fighter. All of his pro losses are to solid guys. His fight with Jingliang was very close.

and we don't know how gunshy rory is going to be. His camp needs to emphasize to just clip Rory's nose early on even if you get taken down or something in the process

Even religious rory should dominate the compitition here.. but I don't have any confidence in him after how he preformed since Moose humbled him.
