I’m watching Yan vs Aldo while I eat my poki bowl and at the end of round 1 Yan delivered a nasty liver shot on Aldo during ground and pound which almost stopped the fight.

Is Yan the King of liver shots?

Yan vs Aldo was an awesome fight. I felt it was 2-2 going into the fifth. Roughly equally skilled but Yan had the much superior gas tank.
I think Aldo only took round two to be honest. 3 was close but Aldo’s gas tank was starting to fade by the end of it.

Bas Rutten is the obvious name, but Mirko is up there with anyone in MMA:

Yan is certainly up there, but you can't call him the king of them when he doesn't even have any liver shot stoppages.

He is really good at it, but not using it often enough.

Against Merab he landed 12% to the body (great body kicks as well) and was super succesful with it. Against Aldo 18%

Aldo throws way more body hooks late in his career. Around his last 10 fights, when he started training boxing way more and changed his style.
He also had a rate of 33% against Petr. Of course both landed kicks as well.

Aldo also has a stoppage with body shots, unlike Yan:

How does that even work?
Being a semi-alcoholic will that cushion the blows or make them worse?
Of course asking for a friend!
