Defense Secretary Hegseth requires new 'pledge' for reporters at the Pentagon

The Pentagon is implementing new guidelines that will require journalists to sign a pledge and agree to report only approved and officially released information.

If you cannot see the playbook here you are either stupid or you are part of the destruction of Democracy.

Just another part of the great plan for MAGA Dictatorship. I’m sure his trained seals will clap and applaud as usual….

It’s crazy to think we are living in what will be in history books as the downfall of American Democracy.

I remember something about the ammosexuals screeching that as long as they have the 2nd Amendment, the 1st Amendment will always be protected. This seems like a very very relevant moment to bring that up..

Brand new people in Congress have to pledge their allegiance to Israel when they get into office

They're also pushed to go to Israel and go through the holocaust museum

Alright, I'm going to be that guy but I'm just going to ask it:
"For generations, Pentagon reporters have provided the public with vital information about how wars are fought, how defense dollars are spent, and how decisions are made that put American lives at risk. That work has only been possible because reporters could seek out facts without needing government permission."

Do you guys really want this sort of thing to be public information? Like, I totally get wanting transparency in how your money is spent, but do you really want that sort of information to be as accessible as it is?

I'm an amateur in this arena, but wouldn't it be strategically stupid to just divulge that sort of information especially to an already antagonistic media outlet?

Is there a real reason why the public needs to know how a government deliberates in this realm other than to quench their insatiable curiosity?

Alright......GO!

I keep saying, they’re governing like they’ll never leave office.

It feels like 240+ years of progress, sacrifice, blood, all going down the toilet.

That's the idea. Vance is the guy they think will be in charge indefinitely after Trump. If he dies in office they wont even need an election. Peter Theil has been anti-democracy for a long time and he funded Vance's entire political ascendance. My guess is they're going to pay off corporate dems (Hakeem Jeffries has already met with these ghouls) into being controlled opposition. They'll hold sham elections with laughably lukewarm candidates or just not hold them at all. Hegseth with threaten further Military escalation in the occupied cities if there is any dissent.

But...

I dont think this will work long term. I think eventually the Military will turn on Hegseth once actual Generals get more flippant, and I think Vance doesnt have the charisma to command MAGA. Compared to Trump Vance is about as exciting as dry toast and unsweetened tea.

2028 will be chaos.

I think when the Secretary of Defense, the Vice President, and half the fucking administration, blatantly discuss war plans through unsecured civilian apps on their personal phones, then yes, the public deserves to know just how stupid these people are.

Or are you guillible enough to think this is aimed at silencing anything other than criticism? If so, what bit of classified information has the press leaked from their over the past 8-months that you believe they should have instead not reported on?

I think MAGA recognize that they can't hold power long-term (via free and fair elections). They've got one shot here to overthrow Democracy, or they're screwed. It's really sad.

They only have one shot at becoming the kingdom they are destined to be and it is now!

MAGA wants Baron to succeed Donald and dynastic lineage of rulers moving forward. They believe it is the only way America can compete with China.

Has the DOD ever really been questioned?

Other than Rumsfeld being pushed on whether our troops in Iraq having what they needed, I envision the media simply going along with the Pentagon.

Yes, I get that I'm a cynical person when it comes to foreign policy and the media, but the press has been cheerleading war since I was born.

Heck, CNN didn't really enter the cultural zeitgeist until Gulf War 1 when they became a mouthpiece for the MIC
