Seriously, everyone knows that BJ Penn is one of the all-time best draws in UFC history. Out of everyone on this card, he's the only one who is a legitimate draw. I understand that a title match takes priority over a non-title match, but having Rua-Gustafsson as co-main event doesn't make much sense to me. In fact, I bet most people are looking forward to the Penn-MacDonald fight over every other fight on this card (I know I am).

Who gives a fuck about a co-main event? Shit means nothing.

I guess it kind of sucks to not have a stare-down prior to the fight. But that's a minor quibble - it's still going to be an awesome fight

If they're trying to build up Gus as a legitimate threat to Jones' title, then of course it makes sense to have his fight as co-main. BJ-Rory has little relevance in the WW title mix.

Shogun/Gus is potentially a title eliminator, depending on the winners performance (IMO). I think if Gus finishes Shogun, he absolutely gets the title shot. If he wins a questionable decision, they will probably just wait for the Machida/Hendo winner.

On most cards ya prolly, but you think its a bigger fight then Shogun/Gus? I dont think so.

Shogun is the main event for me, but these days especially (with the uber skinny weight classes) ofthen co-main events or other fights on the main card are better than the main event, faber/cruss 2 is a perfect example.

as for this card i want to see

1) rua fight
2) penn fight
3) diaz fight

Really main event is 3rd best fight on card

Yeah. I'm so mad I'm not even gonna watch.
I'm taping the fights and having a friend edit the tapes to put the BJ-Rory fight in between the Gus-Shogun and Nate-Bendo fights.

This is a good point.

lol

All three top fights have my full attention and excitement. This is my dream card...tempered by reality...

Who gives a fuck were the fight is on the card as long as you watch it! I don't get why people always whine about a fighter being on the prelims for example and that he should be moved to the main card, seriously your gonna watch the fight either way so who cares were it takes place.

The card is stacked to the point that BJ is not even co main eventing (not that it matters at all) and you find a way to bitch about it? What, does your mom only let you watch the last two fights on a PPV or something?

I would have thought it was co-main event myself but in all honesty it doesn't really matter. The 3 big fights are all amazing and all I care about is that I get to see them. I'm pretty stoked.

hmm shogun and bj are quite comparable as to where they are career wise, both legends, huge fan bases, yet over the hill and rory and gustaffson both solid up and comers, guess u could interchange but not something id be whining about

came here to say this;

i think if gustaffson blows shogun out of the water, which is highly unlikely, he'd be the next in line. Shogun by KO would still probably see him have to fight someone else unfortunately because i still believe shogun is jones' toughest matchup and will do much, much better next time

i know both shogun and bj have been around for a long time but shogun is only 31 and bj 33.

give them 5 years and you could have a case.

I'm not fussed on the order of the fights but as a slightly biased BJ Penn fan it seems that the BJ/Rory fight has the most buzz.
