Rumored Payton Talbott vs. Charles Jourdain in the works

It’d be nice to see Talbott against an actual up and coming contender instead of an older fighter that’s out the door…
But hey the UFC wants to give him the O’Malley treatment it seems.

To be fair! I think Peyton has shown much more upside than O’Malley ever has, with him tasting defeat early and having grittier fights, it’ll make him a much better fighter
 
easy win for Talbott and he is already in Jourdain's homophobic head. Jourdain wont want to wrestle.
 
I'll believe it when I see it. The UFC obviously has plans for Talbott, so fighting down against someone like Jourdain wouldn't make sense.

I'd expect Talbott to fight someone who has a bigger name but is beatable, e.g., Figgy, Font, Chito, Zahabi.

Wait what? Jourdain is no bum. He is a very legit action fighter. Good stand up and subs. I could easily see an upset here.

He's 30 and on a 2 fight winning streak since dropping to bantamweight, far from old and out the door

Jourdain is relatively young and has walked through 2 top-25 BWs with absolute ease. I think he has great chance to win this

Jourdain should get one of those guys too. I'd book Talbott vs Zahabi and Jourdain vs Kyler, but this fight will bang if true.

Maybe but Talbott is also much better than the two guys Charles beat at BW and coming off a bigger win on top of also beating a good prospect in Felipe Lima.

While I don't doubt Charles will make it fun, Talbott would legitimately be his best win since Choi. Jourdain has lost to every good striker he's fought since (Burgos, Wood, Silva, Woodson, Erosa) with Lando being perhaps the only exception if we stretch a bit.

I think Jourdain looks like a different fighter at BW, and doesnt have to worry about fighting 6'2 guys like Woodson & Erosa anymore. Burgos and Silva are huge 45ers that have fought at 155 and would wreck Talbott at 145.

Im not saying Jourdain is a lock, but he's definitely better than Barcelos and is dangerous everywhere at 135 lbs.

I wouldn't say definitely, maybe if Barcelos hadn't just beat Ricky recently as well. At any rate, Raoni is also a different matchup, specializing in wrestling/grappling in a way that Jourdain doesn't, and that Talbott seems to have shored up.

On the flipside, Payton is much better on the feet, faster and younger than either Henry or Grant, so to me this is Charles' first big test at 135 to see if he's still a gatekeeper or more than that.
