I don't do cliff notes because I'm a lazy POS. However, this interview is quite damning for the UFC.

LMAO @ Costa making 70K for a fight. WTF!

UFC said they'd up his pay to 500K over 6 fights if he fought Whittaker. Hahahahaha! (500K TOTAL)

Wow. Works out to a whopping increase of 13 k a fight.
Jesus christ

Based on other sports, yes these guys are underpaid, but the truth is, some other athletes are ridiculously over paid..

Based on like what teachers are paid or something?

They're paid high because there's tangible evidence of revenue they create.

A possibly virtuous teacher or cop or whatever, has no tangible evidence of their worth.

It's unfortunate, but people love their entertainers and pay big bucks to see them perform.

exactly, it an indication of just how ass backwards we are..

Sad that the UFC would rather scrap the Whitaker vs Costa fight than give Costa more than 70k. Costa vs Whitaker would have been a huge draw for UFC Perth and Costa is extremely marketable and could have easily carried the event himself. They give only 16-20% of revenue to fighters and must really want to keep it that way.

This is WME-IMG trying to recoup their $4bn investment by treating its fighters like they are Walmart employees.

Costa might be on a losing skid …. But it’s to the best of the best

fact is he has beat former champs in Hendrix and rockhold …. Also beat Romero ….

And l perosnally always find his fights exciting

I think he deserves wayyy more than 70/fight …. Main event at 70k is an insulting joke

All the dimes he can bring home with that money, homeboy should be grateful.. to many babies crying the blues while they got this spotlight on them.. shows their immaturity that they havent truly grown up to be proper thinking adults.

Oh who cares, right?

I mean, some fighters drink pee, some fighters eat horse meat, some fighters eat day old broccoli. No big deal.

What he meant was he was offered $500k per fight for 6 fights, but he doesn’t want to sign for 6 fights. He wants a 1 fight deal for Whittaker for $500k

‘All the dimes he can bring home for that money’ and ‘haven’t truly grown up to be proper thinking adults’ in the same post

Sensational stuff

He should be making more money.. but this whole situation tells me that the UFC has zero faith in him. He is 1-2 in his last 3 after getting violated by Izzy and missing weight by a ton vs Vettori... and he just beat the ghost of Luke and could not even get a finish. Now he was about to getting handled by Whittaker.

1-3 in his last 4 with 3 embarrassing loses and a dubious win is not worth 500k.

Sorry Paula.

Wait... 500k per fight? lol.. he is getting a great deal considering he is nowhere near a TS.

He is definitely ducking Whittaker

FK Dana. The guy does not know how to treat his fighters fairly. He picks favorites and ensures their success. From the rigged fights as of late to the lack of pay, constant black eyes to the organization.

Slowly and surely every fighter will go over to the PFL or ONE.

Wait...what?

Is he really being offered 500K per fight? That wouldn't be nearly as bad, obviously.

Still underpaid, but more than I expected.

i watched a different channel and from i gather i think he is making pretty shit money right now on each fight. so rather than fight out the contract he just wants to compile it into one big money fight and then be released from his contract. one 500k fight and a release from contract rather than a multi-fight deal totalling a similar amount. right now i think he said its like 70k/70k for 6 fights. he would only get a guaranteed 70k to fight whittaker.
