Anybody interested in seeing him return to LW?

He's one of the bigger FW's out there and is really a natural LW IMO.

I know Pat hasn't said anything but maybe the cut might be difficult for him. Others have noticed a change in him and it can be attributed to guys Lil Pit and Straus improving but he's larger than Jose Aldo who has documented his struggles of making 145. He's still very much neck and neck with Friere and Straus, but he has 5 fights with both of them.

I didn't think he was spectacular as LW in Bellator. KO'd Ricci, fought and won a very close one vs. Roger, was gifted an awful decision vs. Imada and was then outclassed by Eddie. I think we agree he has improved though and the landscape of the division has changed dramatically.

In my opinion there is a lot of fresh matchups at LW since he was there and it was pretty much just Eddie and Huerta. Since the tourny format is gone he can be matched as they please. Perhaps the loser of Big Pit and Marcin to start...or the loser of Brooks-Chandler II. There is Alexander Sarnavskiy, Saad, Etim, Rickles for return fight..some of which could be an interesting style bout. I think Curran would be a great addition to the Bellator LW ranks.

I think FW can move forward without him with guys like Caldwell, Jenkins, Goiti, Guerrero, Neves, Burley and eventually(knock on wood) Frodo waiting in the wings.

Thoughts?

He walks around at 161. He's pretty much said that he gets just below 170 on a fat day, while Aldo's said he struggles to stay below 170. Unless he's one of those guys that doesn't physically handle cutting weight well-- and his 145 successes say otherwise-- or the idea of fighting bigger guys at lightweight excites and motivates him, moving back to lightweight ain't a preferable idea.

FW is his home and where he is best. I did think about "what's next" for Curran and LW ran across my mind, but I think staying in FW will be his best bet. He just joined Team Takedown and said was going to move down to TX to train there full time. I would expect for them to formulate a new game plan and he'll be in 2-3 fights before getting another title shot. Maybe they can work on his aggression. He seemed alot more offensive and aggressive in his second fight with Pitbull, but Pitbull's power just seemed to get the best of him

When he was champeen I wanted to see a super-fight vs Miguel, but in regards to his regular fights I don't see why he'd change divisions.

Maybe Pat just stays in better shape between fights then, because he's a pretty tall and muscular fella for the class. He doesn't have a gassing problem so i don't think he has weight cutting problem but he wouldn't be outsized at LW IMO.

I don't mind him staying at FW, but i can definitely see him making some rounds at LW. Especially considering Coker was known to have guys moving around divisions to make the most interesting matchups in SF.

He'll make his way up to another title shot at FW. I think he belongs at 145.

Who's next then?

I think a lot of the new wave Bellator FW's are too green to have the likes of Curran protecting the gate right now. By the time the Pitbull-Straus-Weasel-Knockonwood Frodo four is settled, those guys will be ready if there isn't Curran waiting to cut them down.

Of course, Straus doesn't have guaranteed reservations for a title shot under the new regime but Weichel and Frodo do. Sandro rematch? Guerreiro? Nunes? Richman?

I would like to see Curran vs. Patricky though. He can stay at FW for his official weight class but i'd like to see him go at it with the older Pitbull. I'll concede that Chandler and Brooks are likely awful matchups for him.

I'd like to see him matched up agaisnt Demsond green, will martinez, maybe Nunes. I'll concede there certainly mor intersting matches for him at LW.

Isn't Patricky in line for a title shot?

Green was red tagged and fights in Titan now. Nunes would be a good one.

Patricky will be in line if he beats Marcin Held. A fight i still can't commit an official pick for.
