OZ(HBO series, no spoilers please)

I watched through the first season on Amazon Prime recently. This was HBO's first episodic series of it's kind from what I've read. First episode was very good, episodes 2-3-4 were also quite good for a show from 1997. The shit got downright unwatchable as it got deeper into that first season, just terrible shit.

I quit right before the season finale. However I went through and checked the little episode description for some of the later seasons and there are quite a few actors that pop up that I like, Eddie Falco(who plays a minor role in season 1), plus several from The Wire a show that I just finished watching for the first time(loved it). I'm in that weird "showhole" where I just finished slowly watching through The Wire and there's like this strange void where I don't know what to watch at night before I go to bed. Oz was kinda filling that void but man did it start to suck. I was wondering if this show is worth sticking with? Any thoughts on this show without giving away any major spoilers for first time watcher like me?

I say try the first few episodes of season 2 to feel it out. That show doesn't stop escalating. The last season is shit but the rest kept my attention. First seasons are weird.

I came up with a theory not too long ago that they would have ran Andy's picture in the newspapers after he escaped, the people at the bank would have recognized him from the picture and the large somewhat suspicious nature of his withdrawal the morning after the escape, it wouldn't have taken them long to figure out where Andy was, the paper trail would have led from the bank straight back to Shawshank prison and it wouldn't have taken them long to find Andy in Mexico(realistically he probably never would have even made it to Mexico) where he dies in Red's arms after a shoot out with the federales. Shawshank Redemption 2: Red Strikes Back, get busy living or get busy dying motherfuckers(*shotgun cocks*)

Yeah that was what drove me away from it there towards the end of season 1, the way the Nazi dude's bitch goes off the deep end singing at the talent show had me doing this with the show:

I watched a few episodes with my youngest brother and my mom, both of whom have done some time, they got a kick out of everybody smoking, lifting weights, eating fruit, having privacy, according to them the show is not very realistic portrayal of prison.
