Bovada’s opening betting odds for Steveson...

Francis Ngannou: -400
Gable Steveson: +300

Ciryl Gane: -300
Gable Steveson: +235

Jon Jones: -325
Gable Steveson: +250

Stipe Miocic: -300
Gable Steveson: +235

Gable Steveson: -115
Derrick Lewis: -105

Brock Lesnar: -145
Gable Steveson: +120

For me, I think Jon's still -300+ and I believe Gable would be the favorite against the rest of them. I honestly can't think of an active HW today that he wouldn't smesh. Dude's a freak.

Kinda disrespectful they had him a slight fave over Lewis when he was 21 and before he trained MMA, lol.

Sherpimps?

With a couple more years of mma training, he'll be an absolute monster.

Right now, I'd have him as an underdog to Aspinall, Jones, Gane, Volkov, Sergei, Blaydes, and Jailton.

Experience matters. Just because he could take all these guys down doesn't mean he'd actually beat them. We still have no idea how he responds to getting hit, whether his gas tank will hold up, and whether he has any submission defense.

But with another year or two of striking and grappling, he probably beats most of the guys I mentioned.

He's looked great so far but he's been fighting the guy who fills up the vending machines at the local truck stop. Obviously the potential is massive but I doubt even he thinks he could beat Aspinall or Pavlovich tomorrow.

The TS posts threads with "Where's Wally" but has Tom with an eye patch.

This idiot has not been banned, have no idea how.

Unfortunately I find myself coming in the heavies less and less these days as the percentage of threads that are utterly retarded is higher than Nick Diaz in a Helwani interview.

I agree. I still visit the heavies though to make me feel better about myself. There's some absolute tools out there.

I still see him as a rightful underdog to all those guys and will continue to do so until he beats legitimate competition in convincing fashion. It's clear that he is physically talented and seemingly quite coachable. As a potential elite prospect in a talent-starved division, I am excited for him... but there are still a lot of questions marks and all we really know is that he can crush cans and look good doing it. That's great, but the same thing was true of Bo Nickal and a lot of the same rhetoric revolving around Bo is now being recycled for Gable almost word-for-word.

I think he needs to take a slight step up on competition. Go back to the LFA and hang out for a while. Focus on fighting dudes with positive records and some momentum of their own. Maybe get some experience against different styles and body types. Once he gets the HW strap over there he'd be a shoo-in for a direct signing to the UFC or at least a DWCS appearance. If he doesn't want to bother with all that he can just sign with Fury FC instead. They're based out of Houston (practically Gable's backyard now that he's training out of Albuquerque) and they're the UFC's designated Southwestern Fight Pass feeder promotion.

I think the problem he'll have on the regionals is who the fuck is going to want to fight him for a couple of grand (props to the guy that did). I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in now I just wouldn't move him into the title picture immediately

Part of me actually thinks that this recent spate of mediocre heavyweight signings they made without any of them having to go through contender series is to give him people to beat when they sign him. I'm sure he could beat Elisha Ellison for example.

I'm going to go on a limb and say he doesn't have any threats on the feet, just will be someone to submit him off their back. Now who can do that? Actually not a single HW to me has shown that yet I could say confidently like Mir or Werdum.

Maybe Almeida, Aspinall, Valter Walker. But honestly just don't have them as the same level of BJJ of previous generations. If he loses it's probably to those 3 guys assuming his BJJ isn't good enough.

I mean in theory yes people will be ducking him and not wanting to pick up the phone when the matchmakers call for them to be the next resume-padder/stepping stone... but in practice the dude has found three willing opponents in as many months (yes, I'm including the DBX bout). That's a promising start. Maybe people grow more hesitant when you're talking about guys with positive records working toward regional championships or DWCS appearances in their own right now that he's shown the ability to starch dudes, but I dunno. I feel like there's always someone willing to be the guy to take a chance at stealing a prospect's hype in any given promotion.

We have not seen nearly enough of his striking against someone with a pulse to conclude that "no one poses a threat to him on the feet". There are lots of current UFC HWs who would have treated those dudes he beat the same way IMO.

they brought in Brock offa 1-0 record. Why waste more time making him crush regional jobbers?

You really don't see the difference between literal who outside of combat sports circles Gable and Brock Lesnar?

Is he natty ?

Why did he get sued for rape and get it aquitted on a loophole that got fixed because of his case. Loophole was that the women drank alcohol so she can't claim she didn't consent.
