See if you can name which Tom Cruise movie this is :

1.Tom Cruise plays the charming star
2. He's got a mentor and a superior female guiding him.
3. He has to hone his craft.
4. He defeats the bad guy and then the even badder guy.

A stark contrast to your other choice. An actor who melts seemlessly into the charecters he played and took on all kinds of interesting and challenging roles.

I love the filmography of both. I gave the nod to PSH because he has insane acting chops but no wrong answer here. Cruise practically runs Hollywood at this point.

Tom cruise

Most of Hoffman's films I don't care for and sure he is good at playing some type of sicko or creep, that's not what I want to see

But he is limited because of his looks. He can never play a romantic lead. He is great, but I would say Tom has more range. And Tom does a lot of block busters, but he has done a ton of diverse stuff over the years. His range is undeniable--Vanilla Sky, Born on The 4th of July, Collateral, Tropic Thunder, American Made, Eyes Wide Shut, all very different.

Knight and Day kinda disproved that
