Whats up Sherdog! my first post here :) I wanted to know what you guys think about the organization and where they are headed in the world of MMA. Do you guys think that they will be able to become a major power in the sport or will they remain just a secondary power? Also do you think that they represent a better choice for American fighters in the form of sponsorship and marketability potential in Asia. I am just getting into training boxing and judo and I know many years from now after training my ass off that I could make it somewhere in mixed martial arts and honestly I think fighting for ONE FC would be a better option for a fighter (as absurd as that may sound in regards to UFC and all. What do you guys think? Thanks for your time http://www.cdn.sherdog.net/forums/sd_miscimages/smiles/smile.gif

IMHO they're right now a solid reality in Asian MMA with some reverb worldwide, I think they'll plateau as a main player in the area ...

I think is a great promotion with a very good production and rules, if u like the looks and the rules u can consider ONE FC as a goal, it's solid and will last years cauz right now has no competitors in Asia.

Would like to c their banner even in Europe thru co-promotions with M-1 KSW CWFC and others.

On the other side, North America is highly inflated with too many promotions so there ONE FC will not have room even in the future.

the one exception to that last part you posted is if they can build some stars over in Asia and do some events on Indian land here in the US, using the One FC ruleset (with soccer kicks, etc), not the Unified Rules.

Does OneFC have Pride rules or UFC rules?

I like how they share fighters and cross promote. They are doing good things in asia and its presence is a welcome sight for mma.

None of them, they use "Global Rules" that mixes a bit of both.

Some rules are:
- Fight in a cage (UR)
- 3x5 or 5x5 rounds (UR)
- Elbows to the head (UR)
- Soccer kicks and knees to a downed opponent, upkicks from the bottom (Pride)
- No stomps to the head of a downed opponent (UR)
- The final score for a decision is not round-by-round but based on the entire match (Pride)

They have the ideal mma ruleset and hardcore fans will always appreciate that. They will continue to grow in Asia and hopefully grow in the West eventually.

I think in next couple of years they will be in uk and Australia. I see them being the ufc in asia. They got deals right now that ufc is dieing to have and tried to get for years. I think it will be not 2, but another number 1, just on that side of the world.

I don't even see them trying the states for a few years or so. It's not only something they don't need, but also there is more to be made where they're at. So we will be stuck with Friday morning cards for a damn good while.

Agreed.

They're solid in SEA but still they're starting in Mainland China and never tried Japan/South Korea/Oceania ...
also they should stay solid even in the MidEast where CWFC is pretty big.

They have a lot of work to do in Asia still so yeah we'll c more and more friday cards :D but always in new countries

It depends. The could be going strong, but they could be out of business. They're shows in Dubai, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia make no money. They certainly have no base, and with a few exceptions, have found it very difficult to produce their own stars. This is mainly because they like "buying" talent, who then basically obliterate any local up an coming home grown names. Aoki, Askren, an Bibiano Fernandes are examples. They're internet PPV is also dismal. I also don't put much stock in their China venture. Their next event (happening in October, supposedly) hasn't even been officially announce yet, except through a vague facebook post from Victor Cui. Kinda odd. On top of that, pretty much no one cares about any of the fighters or champions. No casual fans can name a single champion, except maybe Askren.

On the positive side, the fights are usually really good an the pride rules definitely adds an extra dimension as a hard core fan. It's also good to see a lot of traditionally non-traveling asian fighters (mainly the japanese) venture outside shooto and pancrase to take on pretty legit competition. The presentation is also very, very good, and they've been putting on a huge amount of shows lately, an bringing in some of the fastest rising talent across the world. They'll probably become THE source for Asian an oceanic fighters in the future.

Overrall, I have a hard time believing they're coming even close to making money. The title belts change hands to often for anyone to care about who's fighting for them, and there's so many fighters on the roster it's just an inundation of foreign sounding names. If they're not making money at the gate, and they can't sell a ppv, I'm honestly not sure how long they'll be around. By my guess, China is the last hope. I would definitely like them to stick around. More mma is always better.

Their next event, ONE FC: ROAR OF TIGERS, is official since days pretty much everywhere:

on Sherdog: http://forums.sherdog.com/forums/f61/one-fc-21-roar-tigers-three-fights-announced-2821139/
on their official site: http://www.onefc.com/
on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ONEFCMMA?fref=ts

also about casuals the base isn't west-centric, casuals from Hong-Kong could even recognise more Eddie Ng than Askren.

More 1 night tournaments and Grand prix champions.

They're internet PPV is also dismal.

Care to prove literally any of this?

Yes I am interested what facts you have to that statement? I am not doubting you but just cannot believe that none of those events were profitable.

Thanks that somebody else wrote the questions about those statements lol

really I didn't found nothing on internet that could back up the facts that ONE FC makes no money, has no base, iPPV is dismal and the next event is not advertised.
