Anyone who reads this can laugh at me later tonight but I am predicting that Oliveira’s striking will not be as effective as it was in his championship run.

I am not saying that Dariush is a better striker than Poirier, Chandler or Gaethje. But I think Oliveira will be frustrated like he was against Islam. Don’t worry though, Dariush can get reckless so the fight will be good.

It's hard to say from fight to fight imo. Charles has at times shown good power and decent technique, then has looked sloppy in others.

Dariush has an unorthodox style which could also create problems, and a sneaky bit of power of his own here and there.

Not really sure who takes this one, nor how.

I think Oliveira is better everywhere but it's a fight and anything can happen.

Being better everywhere doesn't necessarily matter in a sport where you only have to be better in one split moment to secure victory.

dariush is the spoiler of the division.

his jiu jitsu is brilliant, he can wrestle a little bit, his striking is awkward and sloppy, but he's persistent, he has some power, and he packs a chin. he's a tough guy to beat.

but if oliveira hasn't declined much, he should eat him alive standing.

He has great striking - his issue is that he tends to get hit then want to pay back rather than accept it, bide is time and return shots when the opening is there.

People are forgetting Charles beat Gaethje and Poirier, two best strikers of the division. Do you really think Dariush is better than both? Said no one ever, really. Charles already got clipped by both and submitted both afterwards, Dariush needs to show a hell of a striking game to prove a point here. I really don't see it. The man is a slow starter, just to make things worse.

All offense little defense. Extremely heavy handed and his technique has improved so much but his head is stationary target, its right there to get hit everytime. I thought for sure Gaetjhe was going to KO him and almost did but like I said he has heavy hands and if he hits you you're going to really feel it.

Interesting that Oliveira's current Chute Boxe but Dariush trains at Kings under Rafael Cordeiro, an original Chute Boxe fighter/trainer

Oliveira is a super dangerous fighter at this stage of his career

That said, I think Benny has all the correct tools to have an answer for Charles.

I think he's gonna rock Charles and unlike the other 3 guys, have no issue following him down to the mat and I don't think Charles is catching Benny from his hack.

Charles offensive striking is awesome but his vision problems really affect his defensive capabilities. You can see by some of the shots he gets hit with that he doesn't really see some of the shots coming.

It all comes down to defense, Olives' ability to handle pressure and how he will deal with a possible stalemate in certain positions. He's the better striker. He's a better submission finisher. Still, how will he deal with things not going his way early? If he gets hurt, will be able to recover and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat like he has in the past? I think whoever makes the first mistake will pay dearly in this fight. It's a travesty this isn't five rounds.

This is the kind of fight I don’t want to comment a lot but just enjoy it.

Charles was on an impressive and most important spectacular run and Beneils run is less spectacular but not less impressive. Its just sad that the winner will have a short preparation period before Abu Daby. In case of minor injuries even shorter.

That's the worst thing I would say, just a 3 rounds fight. Maybe not to obfuscate the main event? We all deserve that fight being 5 rounds anyway.

My guy, no one is forgetting that. Especially myself. I have been consistent that Oliveira is the more diverse and technically sound striker compared to Poirier or Gaethje. Problem is, his style becomes somewhat ineffective once his opponent is not willing to actively brawl with him.

There is not much going with Dariush's striking. He is slow and flat-footed which means he puts himself at a lot of danger the moment he tries to throw combinations. But like Islam, he is not going to actively brawl with Charles which will frustrate him.

But Poirier was patient also. Gaethje is Gaethje, but Poirier is not only the best striker of the division but also played patiently and got submitted. I don't see Dariush's patience playing a factor here, he is not a sniper and neither a hell of a striker.

I am curious to see when Charles start going forward how Dariush will respond. Charles is much different than Gamrot for instance, who throws some strikes to get openings to your legs asap. Charles goes forward wanting to ktfo you, that's the difference. And nonstop.

charles is a good striker, but his striking only really works against no ground game fools like justin, dustin and chandler

You might not want to say dariush striking is better but I will
I genuinely thing Olivera has the worst striking in the top 15 being genirous as soon as benny times that teep and knee up the middle he's gonna drop him and choke him no asleep cos Charlie will tap

Benny will be strangulated and forced to tap

Beneil is actually a deceptively good wrestler, defensively one of the best at 155lbs and offensively he's quite underrated too the way he was able to wrestle guys like Diego Ferreira and Thiago Moises gets overlooked. I don't think his striking is awkward, sloppy sure but he hits hard and pressures well, him being a southpaw definitely frustrates guys.

As for "packing a chin" Beneil? Absolutely not, the one thing Beneil is, is chinny and defensively irresponsible. 3 of his 4 losses are by knockout and if I'm not mistaken Drakkar Klose and Dober had him rocked. Standing both Oliveira and Beneil are chinny and not the hardest to find.
