Finally... the old gloves were such poor quality that just about anything else on the market would have been an improvement.

How come more wasn't made of this?

I heard more about new clocks around the Octagon than this.

Yeah exactly. So many complaints about the old design yet they introduce new one without any promotion or fanfare.

It only took them 15+ years to change

Looks like it's set to debut with UFC 287. Surprised it hasn't gotten more attention.

Hopefully that will help to eliminate a lot of the eye pokes. The glove does look more padded though, would like to see them weighed.. can't be the same 4oz.

It's an approximation. UFC gloves already came in different sizes to accommodate for different hand sizes. The larger size gloves weigh a little more. Typical UFC gloves weigh between 4-6 oz.
