What’s the combat like in SH2?

What’s the combat like in SH2?

I'd describe it as hit and run. You play as a guy who's pretty much just a normal dude. This is no Leon Kennedy or Chris Redfield. Most of the game you'll be attacking with wooden plank and a steel pipe. You get in a few hits and then try to dodge the enemy's attack. You can also mix it up with a few shots to the legs so they get crippled and then go in for the finishing blow with one of your melee attacks. You never feel like an action hero and I think it would be a mistake if they made the game that way considering who you play as. He's not meant to be a trained fighter or anything. Personally, the gameplay isn't what really sold me on the game. I think the atmosphere is among the best in the genre. It's oppressive, it never lets you take a break. In fact many people have commented that they could only play this game one hour at a time for that reason lol. The sound design is top notch and makes the world immersive. I don't have many criticisms of it. I played this and Astro Bot back to back and gave both games a 10 out of 10. I can't remember the last time I played two games in a row like that. Highly recommend but keep in mind it's not really an action game although towards the end you do have quite a few enemies to face off against.

Anyone else been following this game and planning to buy it? No release date yet but we do have a release window of summer 2025 and some previews are also out. All of them have been positive from what I've seen.

Bungie has today officially done away with their alpha playtest NDA in the spirit of community feedback and transparency to make Marathon the game players truly want.

Starting this Wednesday, everyone will now be able to watch and read playtester footage and feedback.
