UPDATE: PWInsider has confirmed the news that Austin Aries is backstage at the NXT taping and reports that he is expected to debut tonight. Aries is believed to be in the process of signing with WWE.

ORIGINAL: Wrestlezone reports that former TNA World Champion Austin Aries is backstage at tonight’s NXT TV tapings at the University of Central Florida. There’s no word on if Aries will be used, but Triple H has been teasing a big surprise for the event. Aries was in Pittsburgh earlier this week to have medical testing to be cleared for a WWE signing.


NXT is officially doing TNA better than TNA.

NXT managed to make a main event, a match that was probably done in TNA 100 or more times (Samoa Joe vs. Rhyno), and still made it seem fresh, new and interesting.

I hate the way tna is run more than anyone but I don't fully understand why nxt brings established talent.

Corbin et al aren't going to get better if they're squashing the Tucker Knight's and the Steve Cutler's of the world. So, they bring in the Rhyno's, the Joe's, the Austin Aries', and guys like them, so they wrestle experienced, well travelled opposition, without risking the main roster guys even further.

WWE are already missing Cena, Rollins, Cesaro, Orton, Barrett, Kidd, and others through injury, they can't risk anymore because they were in a match against an inexperienced greenhorn.

Austin Aries gets hurt in a match, at least it's not a main roster guy.

I predict many of the developing stars have to put over these established guys.

If nxt is taking established stars why not take guys that work for the system? Like ec3, Mike Bennet, Adam cole, or Dalton castle.

I love Austin Aries but he's kind of old and I don't see him fitting over there.
