Folks will point to the level of competition, but what they conveniently forget is that when the Nurmagomedov's do eventually fight top level talent they still make them look like bums. There are guys with losing records that gave Khabib a tougher test than Gaethje and Poirier, so why complain about his strength of opponents?

This is only an opinion response.

Saw Kabob Gleison for the 1st time yesterday.

The most clear thing is Kabob won the 3rd.

The 1st and 2nd were REALLY close.

Obviously, watching the fight as rounds progressed, I had round 1 slight edge to Nurmagomedov, 2 slight edge to Tibau and was like "it all comes down to the 3rd".

Realistically, any score was understandable except giving Gleison the 3rd.

Nurm may have won, tho I know those tears were because he knew he had luck on his side.

Anything from a post preventing a judge from seeing for a second or 2, a judge looking at the big tits on the corner, an itch, etc. could have swung a different score.

All 3 giving it 30-27 Kabob is a weird swing but it's still in the realm of understandable, as long as they gave him the 3rd.

Their records are impressive, but obviously strength of competition is a part of the discussion. Strength of competition is a part of discussing every fighter's resume -- that is how important of a factor it is when looking at a fighter's body of work.

Just because poirier and gaethje -- two predominately mma strikers -- failed against khabib, doesn't mean we should completely ignore a discussion about the level of competition on these guys' resumes lol.

Strength of competition is only part of the story though, my point is that anybody who harps on their strength of competition without acknowledging and weighing their strength of performance can’t be taken seriously.

It is a big part and consistent part of evaluating every fighters resume, so we shouldn't write it off. People should discuss it. Like I sad though, their resumes are impressive. Being undefeated in a sport as unpredictable as mma is very impressive.
