Over the last year or so I find that my toes go numb and turn shades of white and purple from time to time. First it happens when I was doing stand-up like pads and bag work but more recently it started happening during BJJ and wrestling. ABout an hour or so after the session they return to normal.

ANyone else experience this.

I have exactly the same problem, I think it has something to do with me tensing my toes the whole time, im not sure.
Sometimes it happens during warmup already

The primary cause is diverted bloodflow to other parts of your body during intense exercise as a result of peripheral vasoconstriction in unused extremities. Your overworked muscles need that bloodflow more so your body diverts some of it. Moreover, the constant tensing of the muscles in your calves tends to compress veins and arteries, restricting bloodflow further down the vascula tree (ie. your poor feet). It happens, and it's no big deal.

I have it too, more because there is no heating or cooling in the judo dojos here whatsoever so in winter you might as well be training outdoors and the mats are FREEZING cold!!

Good to know I'm not the only one. This has happened three times the last month and I was starting to get a bit concerned.

it happens to me all the time when I step on the mats in winter before practice

Happens to me all the time, one of my coaches gets the same thing too, its pretty normal

Raynaud's phenomenon (RAY-noz), in medicine, is a vasospastic disorder causing discoloration of the fingers, toes, and occasionally other extremities, named for French physician Maurice Raynaud (1834 - 1881). The cause of the phenomenon is unknown, but emotional stress and cold are classically triggers, and the discoloration follows a characteristic pattern in time: white, blue and red.

thats the wiki entry happens to me all the time esp. when its cold...throw on some socks and keep training

I havent experienced that problem but I have noticed that my manhood shrivels up during intense workouts, am i the only one this happens to.

yes - your just aging.. and these sports are acceleration certain parts of your body..

One my friends toes turn completely white with training.. its almost like blood no longer gets to them.. kind of weird.. but he is used to it.. and just considers it another sacrifice to the sport.
