Hey guys

It's getting way to cold too soon here in Canada, too much snow, I got winter breaks coming up and I'm taking the wife and I to the heat. Have you trained in Mexico while on vacation anywhere in Mexico, if so are there any places you recommend?

Before I started training, it didn't matter where we went for vacation, now I only go where I have access to great training opportunities lol, oh and of course whatever makes the wife happy.

Thanks guys.

Where are you visiting? the country is huge as fuck.

I can ask around to see if there is a school near you.

The Garcia family. Invented GJJ. I know a guy who did the Garcia Combatives, then opened a Garcia garage.

Don't forget about Jorge Garcia, no matter how much the other Garcias want to pretend he didn't exist.

HMMM, looks like Meh Hiy Ko is a good place to start an academy. No competition what so ever. There are wealthy and safe parts of Meh Hiy Ko. You just buy the real estate, but up the school, and hire others to teach. I am sure there are enough poor Brazilian black belts who would jump at the opportunity. All you have to do is stop by and check up, and make sure enrollment is up which you can do from afar. You can use your visits as an excuse to get away from family and then go visit hookers. Sounds like a plan.

Hope this helps.

Salas bjj is a good spot and so is the Renzo Gracie school in D.F. (Mexico City). There are also other schools in some tourist spots as listed in the article. Also if you decide to do some MMA training, there are various schools available in Baja Norte. But that area has seen a drop in tourism due to the violence.

More and more teams and viewing Mexico as a viable option to set up shop.

I am from Mexico and i can tell you that Salas and Renzo Gracie schools in Mexico city are the most popular academies, and that

Never been to Mexico but i used to train with Sean Alvarez back when he transitioned to running a GB school in NY, the instruction is legit and the skill is legit. Can't go wrong by checking his place out if your around there.

hit up entram in tj, my cousin runs it. hes been voted best mma coach by mexico twice, hes a bb under dean lister and has got all those mexican fighters into the ufc, like ahkbar and all teh guys from the reality show. his guys do well in competition regularly.

There is also 10th Planet in Mexico City. It would be good if everyone can contribute by state information onthe various jiu jitsu schools.

Not sure where ou are going but there is a Marcus Soares affiliate in Playa Del Carmen which is a big resort destination area just south of Cancun. Marcus's credentials are among the highest of all current BJJ coaches and his black belts are all very knowledgable. I believe its Mark Stables? in PDC but have never actually visited. Having trained under 3 of his other BB I have no doubt this would be a top notch club and also be in a really nice resort part of Mexico.

There is also Brasa (Felipe Costa student) in Merida, as well as Gracie Barra in PDC and Gracie Barra Yucatan Norte.

Ica Medina is also in Merida. I want to say he is of Machado lineage but I am not too sure.

That area of Mexico is very beautiful. Lots of stuff to do with a lot of history and awesome places to go scuba diving, swimming, etc.
