IMO. He was a better fighter in strike force. Looking back watching his oldies on fightpass, he has some classic battles. My favorite being against Cyborg. He was getting kicked to death before he turned it up and boxed him up and submitted him. He was the welterweight champion with I believe 2 title defences. I use to love him back then. He came to the UFC after and underperformed IMO. To be fair though. He lost to Carlos condit, GSP, and Anderson silva. Most people would lose to those killers.

Hard to tell.. as you say his opponents in UFC were WAY better than in Strikeforce... and he stood his ground to say the least.

Nick is 33 years old, he might still be in his prime.. but probably took a lot of damage.. and i doubt we will ever see him fight again, sad enough.

Yeah maybe but that was against much weaker competition so hard to say...

What if i told you the competition in the UFC was just better

I agree with you people. Never said he was the best welterweight in the UFC or anything. Just that he was better in strikeforce. I think once he reached the UFC he was burnt out of MMA. Was always talking about leaving the sport. Boxing etc.

Can't say for sure since he fucking never fights. Ever.

Im a huge nick diaz fan but hes a crybaby. He lost the condit fight and gave up on mma. He was in his prime between gomi and condit.

Agreed. He was a crybaby and never seemed to train hard enough to improve his game. But he was still extremely fun to watch in strikeforce and the UFC

Yes but he also looked better against lower level fighters, look at the jump in the level of competition from the fighters you just mentioned.

I mean he has some high level wins. Robbie Lawler( young but still), BJ Penn, Gomi. Had a close close fight with condit many think he won.

Not sure I agree. He looked stellar against a faded BJ. He looked good against Condit and that was a coin flip of a decision. GSP and Anderson were always bad stylistic match ups for Diaz.

For sure, not looking to discredit Nick.

Considering he's won ONE fight since returning, it's pretty hard to argue against.

agreed, but also because his team was strong and he wasn't as all over the place. He had his bro, gil, jake shields, and others. Now they're all spread out and not in their primes. They were all sharpening each others skills.

I don't think he evolved one bit as a fighter for the last 10 years.

His toughness won him numerous fights. It is one of the biggest attributes the Diaz brothers have going for them.

That and their cardio are bigger assets than any actual grappling or striking skill they possess.

I like Nick, and he was in his prime at SF, but he was not only fighting weaker competition but he was also fighting favourable matchups too.

He's one of my favorite fighters to watch, at least when he isnt laying down in the ring. He brings it man. Fun to watch. RIP
