It's amazing how many people are writing Stipe Miocic off.

They cite the Francis Ngannou fight, Stipe's age, etc. Has nothing to do with anything.

Jon Jones is an old guy too. Has no punch. Hasn't knocked out anyone in years.

Stipe Miocic has legit one-punch KO power in both hands. (Prior to getting KO'd by Ngannou, he wobbled Francis, and got caught coming in trying to finish.) None of this is going to happen against Jones.

By contrast, Stipe has the balls to walk down other fighters, and knock them TF out. Stipe has also proven to have the ability to backpedal, throw one punch, and drop people backing-up. Not many people can do this.

Both Jones and Stipe have devastating ground-N-pound, but Stipe can legit KOd people on the ground. Jones only gets "stoppages."

Jones' days of being "disruptive" with his kicking and touching, at length, have long been gone.

Stipe Miocic is not going to "move and circle" like Ciryl Gane; he is going to go right after Jones, laugh at Jones' punches, and crack Jon on the chin like he's never been cracked before.

Jones has never faced a 6'4", 250-lb power puncher who can KO him with one shot, from either hand, and nullify his wrestling, all the while walking him down.
(Hell, Jones could barely deal with the B-class, LHW Reyes, who couldn't hold a candle to Stipe, in any category. Jones could also barely handle Santos, a former middleweight, who is crippled in both knees, and had no wrestling.)

I will honestly be surprised if Jones doesn't pull out at some point, as the fight draws nearer ...

If Jones doesn't, this will be yet another case where my prediction "against popular thought" will prove to be true.

Stipe Miocic will KO Jon Jones.

Stipe is 41 and 41 isn't kind. I liked this fight better back in 2016.

Concur.

But I think Stipe leads a clean life, keeps in shape, and he may actually be "younger" (in abuse to the body) than Jones — who has less self-discipline and is more inclined to substance abuse (pardon to the moderator).

I'll drink to that.

You make a very good point. Stipe might defy time one last time. Would be cool to see.

like i said in another thread, stipe has never been in trouble on the ground and doesnt really get taken down- did cormier take him down? i cant recall honestly. stipe will light jones up on the feet, jones will start feeling the weight of being 240 an after 3 rounds be very tired then stipe koes him - straight right down the pipe.

stipe isnt one of jones shitty heavyweight training partners like maurice green nor is he gane.

he also doesnt buy into the aura of jones invincibility and wont be spooked like gane was

This is one of those posts where if stipe does win we will look back and say “how did we not trust this guy sooner, he was completely right!” And if jones wins we will say “of course he won, he was younger with less damage and better grappling!” But either way, I see the path to victory being very clear for both guys. Example, i doubt stipe is subbing jones, and I don’t think jones is about to one punch ko stipe

Truth to tell, they are both great fighters, so either can win.

But I explained why I think Stipe is going to get the nod.

He is the bigger man and the better heavyweight.

Jones refused to face Cormier at heavyweight. Refused to face Ngannou at heavyweight.

Stipe face them both and beat them both.

I think Jones is making a terrible miscalculation, and I think he's going to get wrecked.

Nah he's got a TON of wear and tear, and 41 is pretty ancient in fighting. Pre-DC trilogy, I'd be taking Stipe. Between the first DC fight and the 2nd Ngannou fight thats a lot of damage.

Completely agree.

Stipe was willing to face Ngannou twice — and he did not run and hide — but was willing to go go toe-to-toe with the dude.

Stipe beat Ngannou once, lost once, but the man has balls.

Jones didn't even have the balls to face Cormier at heavyweight.
More embarrassing, Jones didn't have have the balls to face Ngannou, at all, despite three years of effort to make the fight happen.

Jones only moved up to heavyweight, after Ngannou left, to face Ciryl Gane.
Jones wrestling proved the difference in that fight, but that's not to be the case in this fight.

Stipe Miocic is a fucking bulldog, who can wrestle, who can punch, and who could knock Jones out with either hand.
In stark contrast, Jones is an average puncher, who is not going to hurt Stipe, and Jones is going to find himself backpedaling and getting tagged — over and over again — because Stipe is the better boxer and bigger man, naturally.

I am 6-8 in my last fight predictions, many against popular opinion (and Pereira was lambasting Izzy before the unexpected KO), but this fight will put me at 7-9 when it's over.

Stipe will break Jones' legacy, and reestablish himself as the premier UFC Heavyweight of all time.

I wouldn't even be surprised if he agreed to face Pavlovich as a swansong, and I think he will beat TF out of Pavlovich also.

As a Jon Jones fan I'm a bit worried, I really hope Miocic is washed so he won't be a problem for Jones.

Miocic is one of those fighters that is always overlooked, I don't know why, dude always have been a killer.

That would be something if he pulled it off for sure. Few counterpoints.

-Stipe has been taken down in his last 3 fights, including by Ngannou. Why can’t Jones?

-When is the last time Stipe fought somebody that really wanted to fight at range and use kicks? Overeem 7 years ago? Most of his opponents were guys that want to slug it out in the pocket.

-Jones is just as tall and weighed in heavier than Stipe has. So size not as much of a factor?

-Jones has dealt with skilled power punchers before. Why is this different?

-You kind of write off the age thing but he is old and is coming off getting KTFO. Is this really a non-factor?
