Closed the deal for $3,000 below MSRP and another $420 discount off the vehicle because it had roof cross bars I didn't want. 10 year/100,000 mile extended warranty for $2840. Originally they were at $5000 then they went to $3-something for Costco and finally got them to $2840. 10 year warranty is probably overkill on a Toyota but with all the electronics and switching to the turbo-4 I thought it was worth it.
Plus, one of the guys involved in the process was a dick so I raised a ruckus with the manager and got an additional 2 years of free maintenance (bringing it up to 4 years free maintenance) which has a value of $745 and a free tank of gas on our next visit. I was talking to him about the warranty and trying to get disclosure about the dealership cost. I said, "Would you mind providing evidence that $2840 is your cost of the warranty?"
He said, "If I have to prove it to you, I'm not going to do it." So I said, "I bench teh 275 so we're done." Actually, I didn't say what I bench, but I did say we're done and I'm speaking with his manager and the GM. I thought it was grossly unprofessional to talk to a potential client in a business deal like that. Dude could have responded with so many different things that could have moved the discussion along.
Felt pretty good about the deal overall. Not counting the extended warranty, the OTD price with sales tax, fees, DMV registration, etc. was within $300 of MSRP.
