The grammar is shit (of course) but I never knew he basically agreed to fight up two weight classes against Markham. Im sure Markham blew up to about 185 if he weighed in at 177. Kudos to Nate, he really did put in tons of work before getting to this point, so it does baffle me that people still think he's not deserving of his fame and credibility. Oh well, I guess that's why some people hate and some people get paid.

Imagine what a 177lb Rory Markham would have done to a 24 year old Conor on a few days notice.

it would be a destruction of the wee Irish lad.

does this yet fights once every few years. lol
To be fair it's wild that he's taking the Leon fight . Would have put up money that he'd churn that fight down . Fuck I hope he becomes active again he's 36 we have a couple years left of him max .

I mean, kind of a misleading statement by Nate. He planned on going to WW right after the Maynard loss and agreed to fight Rory two months before the fight; and yeah he took the fight after Markham missed weight but lots of guys do that. Its not really going up two weight classes on a days notice

i agree balsy move by nate to accept the fight but i think that nate was a dumbass who wasted years of his prime to just be stoned all the time, who wonders what he could have done (doubt he would have been top 5 but still). oh well i guess

Wasn't a Middleweight bout though, was a Catchweight. Markham was a WW who made his MW debut after the Nate fight.

Impressive none the less.

I think it’s a bit of a stretch.

1) Diaz first WW fight, so he “went up 1”
2) Rory missed weight, so he effectively “went up 2”
3) half a day doesn’t meant he took the fight on short notice. It just means he accepted the fight with an opponent who missed weight.

At least that’s how I read between these lines....

Meh, his frame was clearly that of a Lightweight at that time, however I'm sure you can admit during that era there was a lot less bitching in moaning about fighting outside of your optimal weight class. Also, if Nate had the opportunity to decline to fight him since he missed weight then in a way Nate did accept a different fight on 2 days notice.

gross how their both acting like slapping khabib in a scuffle and throwing a dolly through a bus window is not a bitch move. Leon is gonna beat nate, and then nate will have some exuse and go back to twitter

Ufc didn't want to promote nate they didnt think he was draw cause he was hispanic but they sure do promote other fighters, even not top 10 fighters to the moon.

So what, Nate has always been a bigger guy fighting smaller guys. He went up to his real weightclass once, lost several in a row(got ragdolled by Rory) and then immediately went back down fighting midgets.

Just because he's lanky and makes weight well doesn't mean he's not a bigger man. People gave Jones shit for years but Nate gets a pass.

Prior to the Conor rivalry, Diaz was well respected by most hardcore fans for this reason. When he debuted in the UFC in 2007 from TUF, he fought very frequently (four times in 2011, by example), and he's always been exciting. His activity dipped a lot when he started having contract disputes with the UFC, but that wasn't totally his fault. He might be a bit of a diva now, but I think he's more than paid his dues, and he deserves to be well compensated.

That said, the Leon fight is a giant mistake, though.
