In other terrible news, Netflix has bought Warner Bros for 72 billion dollars.

Since Netflix doesn’t like to pay residuals they will rarely be letting films out from the WB catalogue until they can renegotiate contracts and fuck over the people they owe money too.

Another horrible merger, killing competition and making everything worse for everyone.

Indeed …. That’s terrible to say the least

Hopefully Paramount can swoop in gets the rights out from under Netflix. There's a lot of red flags here, one of which was when the head of Netflix said that theaters were "an outdated concept".

I'm guessing the WB catalog of shows and movies don't need to rotate away from Netflix then.

What nobody is talking about is that this will also ruin tubi as it has a lot of warner bros content.

72 billion, lol. They essentially dont even need to deposit it, they practically just type the credit into their account. lol. At this level money is infinite for them.

From what I was reading, sounds like if this merger happens it will once and for all put an end to movie theaters. Streaming companies don't feel they need to spend the money to create good quality movies. It is good quality movies that attract people to make the effort to drive to movie theaters.

Didn't Paramount make a counter offer for like 100 bones or something?

That would be a sad day. I genuinely love going to th movies :(

I would prefer it if neither of them bought WB and merged. We already have very few media conglomerates. You do not want a concentration of media producing the news.

Hats off to The Zaz

WBD was valued at $24/share after the Discovery merger. 3 years later selling it for $30/share and pocketing over $500m just for the sale, leaving aside his past pay.

Good work if you can get it for for grossly underperforming the S&P 500 for your entire tenure as CEO

I wonder movie theater could make their own movies.

Guys this isn't gonna kill movie theaters. WB was not the only studio making movies.

I mean theaters are dying anyway but this won't make a big difference

Now let’s see how many Hollywood actors keep saying “streaming services shouldn’t be included for Oscars”..

I think it will have an impact.
