As the title says. Does anyone know the difference between the two products?

They are the same size, however, the carbon flex has a 'carbon fiber' strip on the front of the cup that makes it stronger.

Note: the cups run small and the carbon one has rivets that can cause cause chafing during grappling.

I did a review a while ago regarding the carbon fiber... The rivets shouldn't be touching the skin. Especially in the pocket.

Anyone tried bumping up to the Titan Flex or found a better alternative to these?

I've tried that too, and i've come to the conclusion that shock-doctor groin guards are horrible in their shape, however, their jock strap/supporter are amazing. I love thai steel cups for striking.

This is my opinion and some of my friends love shock doctor cups.

even when the shock doctor pocket, the rivets left marks on me.

Then you have a very faulty cup.

The supporter is either too large for you, or the cup is broken. The rivets should be shrouded in the rubber.

Okay, I use a lot of flexibility in my ground game, and I also train Muay Thai for standup. I find the classic Thai-cups really uncomfortable, so I'm looking for another option... What cup should I go for to: 1) avoid it chaffing during practice and 2) still offer proper protection in the standup department?

I use a shock doctor jock strap, not sure which one. Its just one that comes w a bio flex cup. Then I bought the titan flex steel cup and put that in the jock strap. I like it. Its pretty comfortable, as comfortable a cup can be...

For what it's worth, I wear my cup during warms which includes a short run and calisthenics and it's not even noticeable. The cup and supporter is $15. You really can't beat it.

Yeah, that's like the cup I am currently using. Problem is that the rubber lining on the cup is ripped loose after some hard grappling, and starts cutting the inside of my legs.. I have three cheap ones, and they all have the same problem... Right now I've just wrapped duct tape around the rubber lining on one of them, hoping it won't come loose :icon_chee

lol what the hell are you guys doing to your cups that they are chaffing and tearing? How old is the cup?

Its maybe 6 months or something... I use it for grappling and thai.. dunno why it is tearing though, perhaps my balls are claustrophobic, and need to break free... Anyways, I was just wondering what you guys would recommend?

You might just be looking for a cup, but thought I should mention the Jaco Guardian compression short/cup system. I really like it and usually forget I'm even wearing it...until a take a shot and thank God I was wearing it :)

I would recommend just buying the same cup. Although if 2 people are complaining on the same thread, maybe I just got lucky? I don't know. But I use it 3x a week and I throw it in the washer. It's a tank. I have the carbon cup and supporter with pocket. If it's really a problem, spend the $50 on a Jaco guardian.

The cup being to large would not cause chafing from the rivets, basic geometry and conservation of kinetic enegy tell us this. However, my rivets were exposed.

Really? Kinetic energy and geometry huh lmfao? Neither of which have anything to do with what you are trying to say.

Do you mean physiology and ergonomics? And I said the supporter might be to large allowing the cup to shift. If your rivets are exposed, you should buy a new cup.

If I didn't have a signature already... this would have easily been it lmao.

lol, never took physics?

The cup is shaped (geometry) horribly, so when I get hit the KE_i transfers to my junk and the energy KE_f makes the lower rivets rub against my glands causing horrible chafing.

note: you do not mean physiology you mean anatomy... and ergonomics is founded in geometry. Please stay in high-school or your jr college..

Haha oh boy, you are really trying to insult my education over a cup. Google ergonomics. You don't describe the fit to a body part by calling it poor geometry. If the cup is symmetrical, it is perfectly geometric. If it doesn't fit right, it is poor ergonomics. It's that simple. And no I meant physiology, even though anatomy and physiology are closely related.

If you really really want to get technical - if your supporter fit properly, the cup could to be too small and still not cause chafing being that it doesn't allow movement. You brought up physics. Think of the seat belt in a car accident. Similar concept. The supporter is attached to you, as is a seat belt. The transfer of force would pass through the cup which is exactly what it is designed to do. Unless you wound up with a cup fit for a 4 year old. A large cup would be the issue as it would be like a loose seatbelt, but you said it's too small. As I have said before, you either have a faulty cup, or your supporter is too big. You don't need to be a pre-med student to understand common sense.

The cup being to large would not cause chafing from the rivets, basic geometry and conservation of kinetic enegy tell us this.

So therefore, basic "geometry" and conservation of energy would actually tell you the exact opposite. Either way, I'm not here to have an intellectual pissing match. So fire away, I won't be responding to anymore arguments about this.
