Hey guys.

Last Friday I was electrocuted at a large restaurant which I wont name on here for obvious anonymity reasons. This case is in Canada but your information may still be useful if you're American. I was out with 3 friends and my girlfriend for her birthday and at our booth the baseboard heater electrically exploded and my leg was touching it and I was electrocuted and was numb from the knee down for 3 days, as well as muscle cramping and difficulty walking. It wasn't a little zap it was a full out flash and sounded like a fire cracker. We then complained to manager and were treated extremely condescending to the point I had to request a superior manager to complain about the one who was dealing with us. I then spent the night waiting at the emergency to get checked out. I want to know how I would go about taking legal action towards this large chain restaurant and if I have a case??? How would I go about this? I have written statements from all involved. I have no physical burning however but was numb and cramping from the knee down for 3 days.

You should speak to an attorney about this to see if you have a case. Generally you get a free consultation. It's going to be more fruitful than sherdog answering your questions unless there are practicing attorneys on here.

Also higher priced lawyers are expensive for a reason. You get what you pay for. Don't rely on cheap services.

Oh I will be speaking with a lawyer, I just know there are some practicing lawyers on here like Aas Guti w/e and maybe one or two more. Just trying to get opinions here if anyone has similar experience or experience going after
A large corporation.

you can take them to court but you will need to bring some doctor reports proving this injury and a few eye witnesses. A doctor should be able to prove that the injuries that you received happened at that location at that specific time. There is a high chance the company will just pay you of.

The doctor at the urgent care looked at my leg and said there was
No visible burning but that I will experience cramping and numbness like I already was
For 2-3 days. I have 4 eye witnesses and written statements also.

Also, if I wanted them to just pay me
Off and avoid going to court, would I contact their head office with my case and documents?

I am sure they receive tons of similar complaints. They wouldn't turn a profit if they paid out everyone who complained to them. I would seek counsel with an attorney then figure out what to do.

If it was this easy to get free monies from companies, everyone would do it.

I'm guessing either Chili's or TGI Friday's lol

It would be best to just contact the company. You would not want a drawn out trial best to deal with this quick. Also did you happen to meet Mr. Grimmer or klaus poppe. before doing so speak to your lawyer. He/she will point you in the right direction

TL/DR, but my recommendation is burn the suit and buy an ill fitting glove imo.

but in all seriousness, I hope your okay, and I'm not a lawyer so I cant really help. but if people can sue for dropping their own coffee on themselves and win, I am sure you can win for being shocked by a heater, especially if there can be neglect proven.

My professional opinion? Shut up.

You're gonna be a millionaire.

Oh wait you said Canada and not.America.

lol goodluck man. Just hope you don't have nerve damage.

LOL. And here we go with the very well informed opinions from the peanut gallery in the back.

This is what's wrong with the world today, everyone is so sue happy these days. Shit happens, put on your big girl panties and get over it. Did the place of business intentionally cause you bodily harm? Did they cause any permanent damage?

Ya it was an unprovoked incident that we did
Nothing to cause, we were just eating dinner then
Kaboom, sounded like a fire cracker and two waiters
Came running over because it was so loud scared the shit out of all of us and completely ruined our birthday celebration. I just feel I am entitled
To some form of compensation as we did nothing to deserve or
Provoke the situation, not to mention that shit isn't suppose to happen, that is
Completely dangerous.

So what do you want, dude? How much money do you want? I know you're just fishing here to see what you can get your hands on, but how much is it going to take for you to feel ok about the scratch on your leg and the rude manager, that you apparently want to sue for? Give me a specific number. Then I'll tell you how to proceed.

in my state you would get 3x or 5x (can't remember which)your medical bills and any lost wages.

This isn't worth your time or money, but I'm sure there's a lawyer out there who will happily take both.
