So two sports have had their year end this weekend (hockey and basketball), and every year it's awesome and inspiring to see the captain of the Stanley Cup champs hoist the cup above his head...

And then you go to the NBA finals and the first person they hand the Larry O'brien trophy to is not the MVP, not the coach, not the towel boy... but the team owner... BULLSH*T!! The players who earned that title should have the first touch of the trophy.

Yeah! I'm mad bro! Lol

Always thought that was stupid too.

Duncan should have been the first person to lift the trophy.

kind of like the executive producer getting to accept the oscar for best picture. It recognition of who really makes it possible, he who has the money. He signs the checks, provides the venue and gives Buford and Pop the freedom to do it their way..nobody on that team is complaining.

It's the one time a year anybody pays attention to the owner.(barring Sterling going all KKK) Cut them some slack.

It prevents the trophy from being stolen by all those ...:-D

Success starts at the top. The owner has to hire all the best people and then treat them well enough that they'll stay, in addition to giving them all the tools they need to succeed, and ensure that they have the support of the community. Teams with bad owners rarely succeed, and if they do happen to have a good season or two, they never build a dynasty.

The owner does deserve some credit.
