native american can refer to the race of the natives peoples of the americas, its time people started recognizing that instead of trying to segregate us from our brothers south of the border.

For your future reference, indigenous people here in Canada (besides the Inuit and Metis) call themselves First Nations people or "Indians" casually, but NEVER "Native Americans" or even Native Canadians.
