It’s encouraged. Many teams have a designated guy who’s job, sometimes his only job even is just to go out and fight lol.

I got to play the highest level of junior hockey in canada because I beat up a guy in tryouts. There were guys better than me who went home over me because of that. Then I spent my late teens in Quebec fighting other guys around my age on ice while crowds of drunk hillbillies roared. Seems kind of insane thinking about it now. I played a regular shift but some of these dudes didn’t, they’d just go out and fight pretty much.

And then those who graduated that level could go all the way to the NHL just fighting or end up in the Quebec fight league (LNAH) and get paid $1000 cash per game to go fight some roided up dude with a Mohawk and tribal tattoos in small town Quebec somewhere. As I get older, the more insane I think this is.
