I read their second fight was controversial and close fight but Ali was awarded the split decision. Was it a robbery? I don't know how they judge in boxing and I'm a Ali fan so I'm asking you guys.

Also some people say Norton should have won the third fight too.True or false?

How come a journeyman like Norton almost beat him three times?

Yea, for some bizarre reason Ali struggled with Ken Norton.

Ali was gifted a SD in the second fight...

on par with Julio ceasar Chavez being gifted a draw against Pernell Whitaker.

naw, it wasn't nearly like chavez whitaker. Ali came in in possibly the best condition of his post-exile career, he never came in lighter than he did here, he was 211 and you could see he was better conditioned. all 3 fights were close, some people think norton won all 3, i think they were all damn close, the first one was even down to the last round. Neither guy had a distinct advantage. All depends on who's doing the judging, Arthur Mercante is a very respected ref and he had ali winning the third fight by winning the last round. Ali, according to ferdie pacheco, said he lost the third fight in confidence to ferdie, in fact, he's even on tape saying he lost it, but what do you expect him to do, hand over the belt? Norton admits he was never serious enough about boxing, maybe if he had been he could have won a few more of his big fights.

ok, he was a journeyman, we'll be in the rest home arguing this if no once concedes to him.

It takes more than 1 win to separate legend from journeyman. Sorry. No fighter is great because of 1 win.

I aree, but he also gave Larry Holmes one hell of a fight, 3 great fights with Ali, one with Holmes and a competitive fight with Young (he probably should have lost that one), put you on a different level than a journeyman, at least in my book.
He was a great athlete with an great trainer, he could stick to a gameplan and give every great technical fighter hell. Of course he still had his flaws and big punchers were his Kryptonite.
